I have been beading for about 5 years. I make double-strand glass seed-bead bracelets and bead-woven zipper pulls that I sell at Craft Shows with my mom and two of my brothers. (Mom makes purses, one brother makes fishing lures, and the other brother makes scroll saw art and pens.)
I've learned basic stringing, plus herringbone, square, brick, and different types of peyote stitches. I'm teaching myself how to make beaded boxes (from the Pretl book Little Bead Boxes). My mom can sew like crazy, but the beading I've learned on my own. We homeschool, and besides learning the craft, I'm learning about the business side, too. The money I earn from sales is my own, and a lot of it goes back into buying more beads.
I'd like to learn loomwork and bead crochet, but making enough items to have a good display for shows takes up a lot of my free time. I'll learn those when I've got some extra money to invest in a larger loom (the one I got from my mom is too small) and stuff I don't have for crocheting.
I'm also teaching myself to knit and crochet (without beads), and I hope to get as good as my older sister. I think that's a pretty long way off!
My favorite colors are greens and browns, with a little gold thrown in.
My wrist size is 6".
