Special call for Winter 2015-16 Quick + Easy Beadwork submissions!

We are now accepting submissions for 2015-16 Quick + Easy Beadwork, a special issue from the editors of Beadwork magazine. Plus, we have some great news! We’ve increased the compensation for this year’s contributors!

What we are looking for:
We are looking for wearable, everyday pieces of jewelry that you can make in a few hours (or, at the most, in a day)—beadwoven necklace, bracelet, and earring designs that incorporate peyote, right-angle weave, herringbone, brick, and/or square stitches (to name a few). These beadweaving techniques can also be combined with stringing (using beading wire and crimp tubes) and simple wireworking (jump rings, simple loops, wrapped loops). Ideal submissions will appeal to those new to seed beading or to experienced beaders looking for a quick project.

Keep in mind that we do not accept projects that have been previously published in books and magazines or on websites (even on Facebook and Etsy). If any portion of your submission has been published previously, please let us know when and where. Also, your submission MUST represent your original work—it is both unethical and undesirable to submit a project that you have learned or copied from someone else.

Our readers love to see project variations. If you made the project in more than one colorway, in a different size, with different beads, etc., please send any and all samples. Coordinating earrings, bracelets, etc. are also welcome provided that they can be created using the same technique(s) featured in the main project.

Submissions deadline:
We are accepting emailed submissions NOW through March 24, 2015. E-mail a high-quality photograph to with “QUICK + EASY SUBMISSION” in the subject line. Include your name, contact information, and brief description of the project, including stitches used. We may request that you send in the actual piece before a final decision is made.

We look forward to reviewing your submissions!
