I was a bit disappointed with "Wire Style". I've seen a bunch of the projects in there already, and there's nothing terribly different than other things I have. May have to put that one up for trade.
That's what a lot of the reviews at Amazon say...and the reason why I haven't purchased

Thank you very much Lisa! Yeah I was pretty disappointed and frustrated at first, but I got over it pretty quickly. Let me tell you, getting the stamen of those dang birds of paradise positioned in a way that I thought looked good was a source of MUCH frustration for me (I'm a bit of a perfectionist lol), so I am extra appreciative to hear that

Thanks to you all for the compliments. Sorry I didn't respond sooner, but I had to leave to drive up to Dallas (well Denton actually) for a doctor's appointment right after I posted the pics and I just got back.
Is the flower in the front a hibiscus? I love the piece. It's very tropical. [/quote

Since I worked really hard on it I wanted to go ahead and share what I made here. I hope no one minds since I'm not an official entry. Rachel

*sigh* Well it looks like they aren't going to accept my entry. I don't know if it's a time zone thing or if it's because they got it 1 minute late (I sent it at exactly 12:00 pacific time, but I notice the time stamp for my email in the reply says "1:01 AM"). Either way it looks like I'm out. It's extra disappointing
The plated crimp beads seem very weak to me, a lesson I learned the hard way too.
I've learned the same lesson with plated crimp beads! twoleaves: The only other thing I can think of is that maybe the wire is crossed inside of the crimp bead, which can sometimes cause the wire to slip out. Either that or maybe

Hi Cat. I normally pinch the ends closer together also. I don't know if it's right or wrong, but I think it looks a lot more finished that way.

I got my books a couple of days ago (yay!). Granted I haven't had a chance to take a real good look at them yet because I've been working diligently on my entry for the flower challange, but I see absolutely nothing "hurt" about them. Tomorrow I can finally spend some nice quality time with them. I've been looking forward to it

Holy Cow! I really hope the deadline was in Pacific time because I was finally just able to send my submission like 5 minutes ago...at exactly 12:00 am pacific (2:00 am central). I hope they will still accept my entry because I worked so hard on it!

Just in case it doesn't work out with DryGulch for some reason, I buy most of my copper components from either www.artbeads.com or www.finedings.com . *adds drygulch.com to her favorites*
