Hi, Let me introduce myself. I was born and raised in Morgantown, WV; got married and moved to Lubbock, TX after grad school; had two girls and eleven years ago moved to Patras, Greece. How's that for gettin' around?
I started beading when I was about 15 or so (won't tell you how 'ancient' I am now) and haven't stopped since. I do every possible kind of beading but concentrate on jewelry making at this time. I also do nearly every other kind of needlework you can imagine and have taught others to do so as well.
By profession I am a trained ESL professor with a specialty in learning disabilities and teach privately most every day. I prefer teaching these individuals as opposed to 'normal' individuals as the results are much more dramatic and rewarding. I incorporate beading and needle crafts into my teaching as well as culinary work. I chose to work with the educationally challenged because my oldest daughter suffers from an extremely rare metabolic disease which affects her abilities in various ways depending upon her stability at the moment in question.
I design and sell jewelry with my younger daughter who also designs gorgeous stuff. We sell on eBay and locally. Our eBay store is there for the purpose of raising funds without 'going a-begging' to pay for an elective liver transplant for my oldest, as our insurance will not cover any of the cost because she can survive without the surgery -- just not without the risks of brain damage at any given moment. So, visit my store, Eggcentricity Jewels, on eBay and if you find something you like and can afford, mention her name, which you will find on my 'me' page in the coupon area of your order or e-mail me to make the adjustment, and take an extra 10% off the price of non-sale items.
I would really like to get in touch with fellow Mountaineers and Lubbockites and start a friendship.
