I have always lived in Baton Rouge and have always done crafts - sewing, embroidery, cross stitch, soap, bath salts, a little crochet, etc. I still do other crafts but beading is at the top right now. I do stringing. My eyesight is getting to where I don't think I can do weaving. Plus I don't have the patience. That's part of the reason I like stringing - almost instant gratification. Also, tendonitis is getting to me. But I think weaving is SO neat.
In 1998 my sister taught me how to do tin cup necklaces - bead groups evenly spaced on beading thread - held in place by knots on each side. I taught her how to do earrings - I learned from watching craft shows. In 2003 my former supervisor got a grandmother's bracelet as a gift for the birth of her twin grandchildren. She told me how much it cost and I thought I could do it cheaper. So, I taught myself stringing.
I love to read, too. My favorites are historical romance, some contemporary romance, mysteries, the Harry Potter series and the Twilight series though I will read almost anything.
I am married to a WONDERFULLY supportive man, Doug. He is my Edward (for all the Twilight fans). We have 2 wonderful sons - not perfect but pretty good kids. It took quite a bit to get them - they are miracles.
I am a former 1st Grade teacher, now an IT person for the State but am trying to get back into teaching.
