I've been beading as a hobby for about five years. About two years ago I started selling my jewelry primarily by consignment and word of mouth. I plan to set up a shop on Etsy within the next six months or so (still building my inventory while trying to stay on top of commissions). I live in Santa Fe, New Mexico with my husband, two children, two dogs and a snake named Edward. I do a lot of crafting in different mediums and I also knit. I love horse-back-riding, breeding dogs (puppies are wonderful!), gardening, reading and going to the bead store, I LOVE going to the bead store even if it's just to chat with the ladies about all things beading. I'm a romantic with feminine taste and there is no such thing as too sparklie!
For swaps: My favorite colors are green, blue, purple, lavendar, and pink (I could really use some pink earrings, I didn't have any but thanks to the swaps I do now! but I can always use more!). I love Swarovski crystals and pearls, czech fire polished and opaque beads, I like freshwater pearls, and semi-precious gemstones. I don't like wood, plastic/acrylic, or shell. I don't like chunky or over-sized jewelry either. My metal of choice is sterling silver but I also like brass, gunmetal and copper. I do not like holiday themed jewelry but seasonal colors are definately O.K.
For earrings I like dangly and sparklie - I wear my very long hair up in a twist most of the time and I like my earrings to make a statement - subtlety is not really my thing. I prefer leverbacks, less of a tendency to fall out.
For bracelets - my wrist is 6" so a 71/2" bracelet fits perfectly. I'm easy to please and will enjoy anything creative. Sparklie is always a winner with me. I like charms (hearts, leaves, acorns, etc.) and toggle clasps because I can actually fasten them.
For necklaces - I like long necklaces, opera length, lariat, rope and Y. Double or multiple strand necklaces are my favorite but again I'm easy to please just let your imagination run wild and I'm sure I'll like it. I don't like big and chunky, I do love chain, all metal types I don't have any allergies. For someone who loves pink it's amazing that I don't really have much pink jewelry. I love pink and lavendar or pink and green or purple, lavender and green - just a few ideas!
The most important thing is for you to have fun making the jewelry in your style - just let yourself go wild - I'm sure I'll love it!
