My mother-in-law (Paula, at Romancing the Stone in King William, Va.) needed an employee she could trust to work at her jewelry and repair store in 2006. Having an Assoc Degree in Science and having worked for Intel for 5 years, I thought this would be a nice change of pace. I was very fortunate to be blessed with this opportunity as it has changed my life entirely. I soaked as much information up as I could and before long, I was asked if I would like to start helping with repairs. I started with the basics of cleaning and restringing of various broken items. Over time I built my tools, metals and stone collections and started to practice with the torch. I can still remember how proud I was of my first bezel (and I remember the SandStone fit perfectly.) In 2008, my husband and I moved to Belize, Central America. It was not a smooth ride to get here but I have recently found myself in a position to bunker down in my little village house and create jewelry. I must say, I am just as excited as I am terrified. I hope you enjoy my post and my site. Thank you for your time.
