Okay so here is the deal. I have 3 pices of shaped 18 gauge wire that I have in a lovely setup and now I need to join them. I have a very thin wire that I usually use for wire wrapping (not sure of the gauge) - anyway, I am trying to replicate a weave that I see pretty often and I have used in pieces that basically is like basket weave...the problem is this - I have used the weave before on 2 pieces of wire and not 3. Also, its always been between two pieces that have a large gap in the middle so the weave actually fills the empty space. (I hope that makes sense). What I am trying to accomplish is to have the 3 pieces of wire woven together with the smaller wire in that same basket-like weave but TIGHTLY together. I can't figure out how to start it and everytime I do I can't get the wire taught enough to start...and I can't figure out how I am going to squeeze that wire inbetween such a narrow space during the weaving process. I know this is possible cause I have seen it a million times...I just can't get it to work right. Anyone out there able to help???? PWEEEESE???
Start with some wraps on the first wire to get a start then you weave your wire basically the same as you do for two wires, only you have the middle wire to go over and under too.
Wraps on first wire, under the middle wire, over the far wire and back under it, then over the middle wire, under the first wire and just keep repeating.
Does that make sense?
You have to leave enough room for at least gauge of the wire to go through. I pull taught as I go and if I have to push the wires closer together until I get a good pattern going I do.

I sent you an email Kelly.
Thanks Cat, I just couldn't seem to get it! I am still having trouble with the ancoring issue but I think I figured out a way to start with joining two and go to three part way through so that I don't have as many issues with it. Here's hoping I can get it right.
Oh...just incase send any emails to my non-work email...at gmail. The other one they took off the system when they transfered me to this new dept. We don't need email here. Also, I think I got an email a while back from you and I can't remember if I responded or not. Meant to ask you about that. If I didn't, SO SORRY!!! I kinda got behind on all my net stuff. =/
No problem and I hope you get it! Please share when it's complete!
I started to copy both your emails but then I figured you were at work. Duh should have known....
Ooo oooo...wanna see my handiwork???? Okay...just so you know, this isn't the finished product...but its pretty darn close...just needs some beads/splash of color and we are in business!!! =)
I was just checking this out on your blog!!!
It looks great Kelly and I hope I was able to help, at least a bit. I mentioned either on your blog or on FB that your center wire looks similar to something I've been doing. Mine is actually completely different but I have the same exact middle shape working. I've added beads to the bottom and am trying to work something in the middle.
Ooo...cool Cat! I can't wait to see!! (lol...you better post pics! *wink*)
Nice shape, and the wrapping looks good. Glad you got it to work-show off what it's like when finished, would you?
