Re: What to do with millions of teeny tiny purple beads?

I taught my niece and nephew "The Song That Never Ends" - from Shari Lewis because my kids had gotten too old for that stuff by then. But instead of "somebody started singing it not knowing what it was", we would use the name of someone we knew - even pets. It got pretty hilarious when we had to start using cartoon characters, TV stars and even making up names because we'd used everyone in the family!

One song that the same niece and nephew (back when they were 6 and 9 - they're 13 and 16 now and are FAR too old for such silliness) used to sing to drive DH Mike crazy was the "Tiki Room" song from Disneyland!

Can't wait until my grandbabies are old enough and closer so that I can teach them! Just another year or so! ::teach 'em the songs and then send 'em home! :: <wicked grin>

The other song kidlet likes (surprisingly) is "Don't Rock the Jukebox" by Alan Jackson.  Instead of "I don't feel like rockin' " he says "rockets" and it's SO cute.  When we went to Spain in September our friend had a broken jukebox in the back of his bar and Zach was so excited when I told him what it was (and yes, it's legal to take kids into bars there).

Oops, I think we done did hijack this thread!

Dot now that we have officially shown you what kind of nuts hang out here - Welcome to the forums.

Seriously, this is a great place with wonderful people and lots of great knowledge and ideas.  I just learned new stuff from reading the answers to your post.  I never thought of MAKING a bead spinner!!!!

Please jump right in to the discussions and post a pic of what you end up making with your zillion purple beads.

ROFL - Didn't you know we're all a bunch of polygamists, married to that DH guy? <LOL>

That's why when I refer to my DH, I say DH Mike and often add (aka "the jeweler").

Mea culpa!  And when I read some of the early replies to DW, she sang the whole song 'at me'.  We proudly state that not only do we remember that one, but also: "Too old to cut the mustard", "Silver threads among the gold", "I.m my own grampa", "She had a dark and roving eye ...", and of course, the OLD cowboy songs.

    so there . . .

Stan-- hee hee! Good for her! so glad to hear it. Funny, I know some of those songs... and I always seem to know the words to any of the "Andrews Sisters" songs better than my grandmother, which she thinks is funny. As of course they were the songs she and my grandfather danced to while dating.

    Stan,

You would love the place where we eat breakfast on Sunday mornings. There's an old cowboy who sings the old cowboy songs, like "Little Green Valley" and "The Strawberry Roan".

If you can convince the DW to come to AZ, you can listen to what DH Mike calls his "iPod". It's a 1920's Victrola and we've got a bunch of the old records, including "Swanee", "Casey Jones" and more. We get a kick out of playing them on Sundays and listening to and watching the customers. The only problem is keeping someone close enough to change the records!

Edited to add: If you go to Heartland Public Radio's website, they have an internet radio station of the old cowboy songs! They also have a Christmas music station, that I'll be playing in the store starting on Black Friday.

And - to get this back on track (sort of), I just put about a jillion purple Delicas in the racks at the store. <grin>
