    Moss Agate Beads

I love the necklace at this link::

And wanted to make one for myself, I mean, 75 dollars is alot for something I could make that easily... What would you call/how would you describe the Moss Agate beads used? I even searched the Australian Google to look for them!

     Hi Sydney

I'd call those beads a long marquise.

Hard to find but I found this great site that actually cuts the stones to the size and shape you want.  Their prices aren't bad either.  I priced a 10 x 30mm moss agate marquise and the price came out as 2.68 a stone....but they are for cabochons only....and I couldn't find if they drilled them for you.   I bet they would for a price but you'd have to ask them.

    Hope this helps

    Thats a cool site, Mikki.

If they are fabricating the cabs to order, I bet they would drill them. Shoot them an email and ask. Of course, the marquis cabs would be flat on the back side, which is maybe not what you want. That marquis shape is  difficult to find in large stones, but you could always substitute a teardrop or briolette shape and get a similar effect. Not as striking, though.

You might also contact our BD member David of DVH designs.  He's a lapidary, and might be able to make some for you. He has both an Ebay and and Etsy store so you can get a look at what he does, or look in the reader's showcase for some of his posts. It's a thought anyway.

David states on his ebay site that he will do custom work, BUT(there is always a but, isn't there? *grinz*) you have to really nice to him. *laughz* Sounds easy enough to me.
