    Pam:
Climbing into drawers and cupboards is another cat favorite, or any small space for that matter
Cats do weird things - just one thing to pay attention too ... So kittens/cats has a crazy urge to chew on cables ... which is not all that safe ... and can get expensive ...
My Victor (1 of the cats my ex kept) love cables - he "ate" 3 xbox controllers and a phone charger as a "start" before my ex learned to pack up things with cabels ...

Just an idea - cause if you "catch him" at it you can try to teach him not to do it when he is young ... teaching older cats something is not that easy ...
So dont let him get away with murder just cause he is cute ...

First Bones is adorable! Definitely check for an age on the flea stuff and I also use Frontline. I buy it at the vet as I can get a single dose and it is around $12 ( depending on the weight of the cat ). The 3 month supply is the $40 price that you are seeing. Don't get the generic stuff from other stores as it will not work as well. Speaking from experience!

Our cat is indoor but since we have a dog that goes in & out, we usually have to do the cat about once a year in the spring. It seems like that one time will take care of it even thought we do that dog every month.

Yes our cat, "Q", who is 8 years old, still loves to get under my feet. I have tripped over her more times that I can count! UGH! She will also pounce out of no where to attach my toes when walking. I think the pant leg of my pj pants intrigues her! LOL!

    Anyway...enjoy!

Bones is most definitely a tabby, that 'M' says it all.

Cats can and do sleep anywhere.  Our younger cat used to climb up on my chest when I was in my recliner, reading, and curl up on my chest, around my pocket protector, and fall asleep.  He still wants to get in my lap when I'm reading in my chair.  He always want to walk across the keyboard of my laptop when I'm using it.

    Re: Kitten

     He is a cutie!

I'm with ya Jeni- I was thinking Bones for the TV show  but I do like that name.

I'm not much of a cat person honestly, don't hate them either but I do hate the nasty feral? cats that run around here. It seems most of them are gone now but my neighbor decided this spring to let a cat have kittens on her back deck even though she hated all the strays too. So a stray had kittens so now her kittens are growing big and running all over in my yard again, and pooping everywhere which really makes me sick.

Ok I'll stop griping. I did have two kitties once when I was about 13 and I loved them. I have no idea what kind they were though.

One was all black (my fave) and his name was guess,  BOO! The other was the Tan color with stripes, anybody know what that is? Anyway we called him Bud. We had to give them away eventually but I sure grew attached to them- well except when I would wake up in the middle of the night with a cat going crazy on my leg. I cried and cried when they left us. I did love them so I guess it's in me, I just can't stand those strays.

I think I'm more of a dog person. I would love to have one but hubby doesn't. I'll convince him one day, or maybe I'll just get one- Ha what can he say if I already got it?!

Nah- he wouldn't do that. I don't know if they accept returns on animals.

    Re: Kitten

Oh, what a cutie!  We adopted a grey tabby similar to that but she unfortunately turned out to be a psycho hose beast and we had to put her down.  It got to the point where we couldn't even get near her, and if we had to pick her up we had to capture her in a towel or she'd scratch & bite us to shreds.  The vet finally said there was nothing to be done for her.  Sad, because we thought she was so cute when we got her and she seemed fine, just a bit shy.

Make sure you keep your BEADS put away when you can't supervise her!  I left a project out once by mistake and one of my cats tried to eat a beading needle.  That wasn't a very fun day, I can promise you.

Kelly - he might be half tabby and half spotted ...

Oh!  Maybe thats it!  Thanks Inca!!!  =)

    Inca:

Oh did I forget to say he is adorable ? well he is ... =)

     Hhehehe...I know...

    ChristinaH:

Start getting him used to the bath idea...start with the sink first. My cat has no problems with bathtime...shes used to it. Sits in the water all nice and calm. Anyway...I use Cloudstar "buddy wash" with citronella and lavendar for the dog and the cat...anti flea and mosquito all natural organic goodness (6.99 at petsmart). I would read the labels though since your little one is still a baby. I would also suggest some flea power for your carpet, you shake it on and leave it for 24 hours and vaccuum it up (8.99 at the organic pet store)

We still haven't bathed him - not been home much this weekend.  But thanks for all the ideas...that carpet and shampoo stuff sounds GREAT!  I might not be able to find the powder cause we don't have an organic pet store...would you think Earthfare would have it?

    CourtneyB:

I love his tummy! please rub it for me. He is adorable.

    Courtney

Done and done!  Yeah...he has a snow leopard tummy methinks!

    Deb :

Bones is beautiful. Reminds me of a female cat my first ex-husband and I had. She was that beautiful grey tabby color, just like Bones (love the name). We called her Rugg Ratt or Ruggy for short. Sweet and loveable!

Thanks!  Awww...I like "Ruggy" thats cute!

    LoisB:
Awww... he's such a CUTIE!  I've seen tabbies with those swirling patterns

Thanks!  Oh and if you find out what that patterning is called...please let me know!!!  I have never seen a cat with that pattern before and I LOVE it!!

    Pam:
I love dogs too, actually I'm really a dog person more than a cat person but there's a narrow difference in that.

Funny...I actually am a BIG dog fan.  Def more of a dog person than cat but we don't really have a dog-friendly apartment or schedule...plus if we got a dog...it would be a big one.  Both of us like big dogs.  We grew up with a greyhound - sweetest thing ever.  Thanks for all the advice...will definately have to check out the discounts on the neutering.

*laugh*  yeah...we have a  squirt bottle loaded with water.  GREAT cat deturant.  lol...I wish you guys could see his reaction to that thing...hahahaha...its hilarious!!!!  Now he is scared of the bottle.

OH!  Thats GREAT news!!!  I thought that the smallest dose you could get would be the 3 month supply!  GOOD to hear that we can get smaller doses!

Yeah...he was curled up on my chest sleeping for hours yesterday.  And oh man does he ever want to be RIGHT IN THE CENTER of everything I am doing...lol...its like: type type type - pick up cat, put him back on floor - type type type, pick up cat and put on floor - type type type.....repeat.  LOL!

LOL...thats always how we ended up with pets!  I don't blame ya for not liking strays...I would hate that too.

LOL - "psycho hose beast" - what exactly IS that?  LOL!!!!!  Yeah, I have known a few cats (of other people's) that ended up like that.  Thankfully Bones doesn't seem to have much of that in him.  Sure he attacks everything that moves and sure he has tried to attack our hands...but we don't let him and NEVER play with our hands.  Hopefully that way he will stay lovey and cuddly!

Oh man...thats terrible!  Yeah, I keep my beading stuff in my room with the door closed when I am not there.  I figured if he saw beads he would become as obsessed as I am.

I don't think you need to worry about playing with him with your hands. I had a cat who was the FIERCEST little kitten. She just LOVED to play, balled up socks is the perfect wrestling toy for them, btw, anyway, we'd westle with her and all that. When she got tired, she would cuddle. As an adult, she was a GREAT mouser. Kept our basement free of mice. But her favorite things were to snuggle up on your lap, or get chased through the house. Play-fighting is a totally kitten behavior.

Weird ... when I was married we adopted a grey tabby too ... that turned out being nuts ... she didnt hurt us - but anything else she used as a toilet - or ruined other ways ...
But according to my ex - grey cats has a mental defect due to color .... (not sure if its correct)

Exactly!  Don't jerk your hand away, just pull gently.  It'll chase a string as you drag it along the floor.

Handle the kitten: take an ear between thumb and index finger and GENTLY move from the base of the ear to the tip.  Ours is 8 y.o. now and still likes it.  Scratch/rub the kitten anywhere, including the feet, he seems to like it when I [gently] put the tip of my thumb between the pads on his feet, he purrrrrrrs when brushed or combed, and he likes to play 'fetch', which he taught me when he was a kitten.

Just get the kitten accustomed to it now, and he will accept it later in life.

You said he was going to be an indoors cat ...
I have one more thing you should put on your "teach the cat" list ...
Get a claw clipper (or a cutting pliers) - and even if he dont need his claws clipped - hold it in your hand - and fiddle with his paws and claws ...
(cause I bet Bones is going to be a big cat - and you want to teach him its nothing to get upset about - before he is big enough to win the fight ... )
