Need prayers in AZ, please? UPDATE!

Joshy is almost over his bout of flu, thank goodness. HIs fever went down almost immediately and he was feeling much better within 24 hours and "bouncing off the walls" <LOL> within a few days. My daughter and the baby have coughs, but the doc says that it's more likely a cold than anything serious - he did put them on a strong antibiotic as a precaution.

It took a while, but the regional manager finally did call us back. Mike told the regional manager that he was still upset about it. He explained that we had driven over 90 minutes to get there and then drove up and down the main street for another half hour trying to find the pharmacy because the name the employee gave when answering the phone was **NOT** WALGREEN'S. We only passed the only Walgreen's in town twice, looking for Mulberry Pharmacy! (Is it me or does Mulberry sound like Walgreen's?)

It is NOT their policy to make people drive down to physically pay for prescriptions and he agreed that ESPECIALLY because it was Tamiflu for a small child in the "vulnerable" group, there should not have been a problem. He and Mike both agreed that being for Tamiflu is different than if it had been for a couple of six-packs of soda and 3 bags of chips - very few people would use a fake credit card for medication like Tamiflu!

The pharmacy manager that gave Mike such a hard time will be "counselled".  Every employee will be re-trained to answer the phone clearly so that every caller will know they called WALGREEN'S!

We found out from the regional manager that in a situation like this, the pharmacy person SHOULD have suggested that we could make the payment at a nearby Walgreen's. The pharmacy manager will also have this stressed in her "counselling".

The nicest part was the regional manager asked how Joshy is doing and if the Tamiflu helped. He was glad to hear that it worked so quickly - he completely understood a grumpy Grandpa who adores his grandson being so upset. He told Mike that in the future, if we pay with a credit card here, our contact information, etc. will be linked with Joshy's account if it's ever needed in the future.

SO - thanks for the support! You can all take off your boycott hats and war bonnets now. Walgreen's DID make good for us - clarified their policy to us and will re-train all parties involved in that particular store.

    Thanks again, everyone!

Okay, Deb, I think, we all should be calling this corporate office, and give them some encouragement to wake up. @#$&*()!!

This is a childs life, and 4hours, is a big difference for a sick child.@#$%^&*()!! Time could save a childs life.

It could have been one of us here in Our BD Circle. We all know, "Corporations hear complaints from one person, in one ear and out the other".However they hear really well when Large numbers of folks start complaining and tying up their 800' phone #s.

I will call them, E Mail me the information! ( I promise to be Professional this time:)

"I will send lots of prayers to the entire family."

Re: Need prayers in AZ, please?

Let me get this straight-he got sick from having his H1N1 shot?  That doesn't make me want to get one for kidlet!  He & I just got our regular flu shots this week and now of course we're both getting sick.  He's had a fever the past 3 days and now has a stuffy nose, and I'm getting a stuffy nose too.

That's really rotten about the pharmacy.  What the heck are they thinking?  I'll be praying for Joshy & your family.

Deb, so sorry to hear about your grandson, he is in all our prayers. As for that chain of pharmacies just say the word we are a very large group and I am sure we all know exponentially thousands between all of us. Think that would hurt a few corprate jack asses? I mean think about it who goes to the pharmacy? ladies, and who is the majority of beaders? ladies,

see where i am headed with this? huh?

Deb -- prayers from New Mexico. I have run into so much nonsense in the medical industry, so their stupid policy sounds about par. Their stupid policy is going to come back to bite them in the a$$ someday, and then they'll probably say they need to be bailed out, or something asinine like that...

It's weird with little ones, because they can either be young and strong and recover quickly, or they can be young and little and have a hard time recovering. Just surround him with your white light, lots of it, and he'll be fine. Hang in there!

Deb - Yes they are definitely in my thoughts! I too have been concerned about all the people getting the shots/nasal mists. I know they say that you can't get it from the vaccine, but my dad said that he was always told with the regular flu shot that if you have been exposed, the vaccine can bring it on. At my job, I am exposed literally every day!

We average at least 3-5 sick people a day at work, either the patient or a family member. We are not a medical office, we are an orthodontic office. We don't want to see sick patients or their families but for some reason people just don't get it. For example...a mom called to reschedule an appointment. The school called her to tell her patient was sick and to come get him. So she picked him up and headed to our office. But he threw up in the car so she figured it would be best not to bring him! If the school called her, we don't want him either! Some people! Sorry had to vent that!

Please update us on Joshy and his entire family. Be sure to read the posting about gargling and etc to help prevent the spread in the family. I will be thinking of them and you need to be careful being so tired. You want to keep your immune system up!

    Deb:

My thoughts are with you and your grandson.

The H1N1 injected vaccine does not use live virus cultures - which means it is virtually impossible to get H1N1 flu from the vaccine.  In all likelihood, your grandson was exposed to the virus before his innoculation.

The only time a live (attenuated) version of the virus is used is in the nasal spray version, but it is still highly unlikely that the virus mutated back to the original, infectous version.

Please keep us updated on your grandson's progress.

Re: Need prayers in AZ, please?

    Lita,

We only have the nasal version available here at the moment and very limited supplies of that. The injection version won't be here for another couple of weeks. Joshy is a stay-at-home kid, no day care or pre-school to expose him to nasty germies, so, it's unlikely that he was exposed to it before he got the vaccine.

We haven't heard from the corporate office of the pharmacy yet. We expect a call on Monday. If they don't return the call, Grumpy (which is what Joshy calls his grandpa) will call them again. If the results are unsatisfactory, I won't hesitate to spread the word about the offender and their lousy corporate policy!

Re: Need prayers in AZ, please?

    Thanks Sheila,

I hear you about gargling, hand washing and more. I have a bottle of sanitizer on my desk for customers and a couple of little ones in strategic places around the store.

Sleep, too. If getting home so late on Friday morning wasn't bad enough, I was up at 5:30 this morning for a CCW class that started at 8 am. I barely stayed awake, but did! Got the best woman's score in the class, which was 25% women. [Don't tell anyone there were only 4 people in the class!] I get to sleep late tomorrow - we don't open until noon.

Mike's going to take us out for Mexican food tonight - the chilis in the food ought to kill any unwary bug.
