    Possible sales?

My son's girlfriend just called me. ( They have been going into this one shop a lot and have gotten to know the owner somewhat over the last couple of months ). This is a little knick knack type of shop where they are. This lady used to make her own jewelry to sell in her shop and can't anymore as she doesn't have time or energy. So my son's girlfiend mentioned that I make jewelry. This lady is interested in seeing some of my stuff! I am suppose to send my son/girlfriend a few pieces for her to look at. She is thinking that she will put them in her shop and if they sale, I can send more. She told my son's girlfriend she would split it 50/50 with me when sold. Girlfriend told me how much the bracelets usually sell for and the 50$ is what I charge at the craft shows. So it is doable on my end!

I know that most splits are 60/40 and I would prefer her to buy outright, but I think that this is at least an opportunity to get in the door. I can always try it once. What have I got to loose! LOL!

I told my son's girlfriend that I would put a listing in with the pieces so that she ( girlfriend ) knows exactly how much I want out of the pieces. I figure if it all goes well, I can schedule a trip down to work out specifics etc with the shop owner.

I know that I am taking a chance by not going myself, not having a specific contract, etc etc, but I am only sending 5 bracelets and 5 pairs of earrings. Maybe a necklace or two? Not that I want to loose these pieces, but this type of knick knack shop is the perfect match for my little stretch bracelets. Something that everyone can afford to pick up on vacation in a touristy town. So we are not talking high $ here. I figure it will be a couple of weeks before I will probably hear anything back by the time I mail it, they take it to her and gives it a chance to sell.

I will keep you all posted! Beer

You can visit your son and restock the shop and write the visit off on your taxes! Devil

Sounds like a win-win situation to me!

Deb - You read my mind! LOL! That is exactly what I thought. We have been wanting to try a different hotel, a Radisson with the sleep number beds. It is a little more expensive but not a lot more. I think that needs to be a great way to remember which trips were personal and business. Stay a a different hotel! LOL!

Congratulations Sheila!  I hope that the consignments work out for you and that you will get what you normally charge for your jewelry after she takes her cut.  It definitely doesn't hurt to try!  That's the way I thought about it.

    Definitely keep us posted! Computer

    Re: Possible sales?

Well my son called tonight. He took the jewelry to the lady and she was "very excited". She told him she may buy some of the pieces for herself! YEAH!

She told him that she thinks that the pieces will sell very quickly! I hope so! I also hope that means that she will be buying more very soon!

Her shop is only open ( I think ) Thursday thru Sunday so he got them to her just in time for the weekend! YEAH! He is coming home to visit so I am hoping that next weekend when he gets to check back in with her that she has sold a bunch!

I only sent 6 bracelets, 5 pairs of earrings and a couple of focals on leather cord. I am hoping that I get a request for a bunch more ( since I am only doing 1 craft show so far).

Anyway...I thought that I would update everyone. I will post and actual update once I know more!

My son and his girlfriend came home last night for the weekend. When they got to my house, GF said that the shop lady had called them. Just yesterday she sold all the earrings and 3 bracelets, on a Friday! I know it is not enough to retire on ( LOL ) , but I am still excited!

I plan on making some more earrings today to send back with them. I just had to share the exciting news!

    Re: Possible sales?

I recently bought some of the leather cuffs at Hobby Lobby with a leather hole punch. I wanted to try something that could be for the male population. My thoughts was to lace the cuff with a different color of leather or stud it with the pyramid studs or spikes.

Well, my first one was a brown leather that I punched and laced with a green, dark orange and almost a yellow ( with just a hint of orange ) hemp. The lace formed X's across the cuff. First attempt, I learned some things.

My son's GF saw it and said' Did you make this?" I said "Sure did. First attempt, not the best". She informed me that there is a "Coyote Ugly" bar just a few doors down from the little shop that has my stuff. She said that all the male workers from the bar come down to the store on their breaks and buy stuff. So I should get busy and make more to send back home with them. She said that they sale for around $30-$40. Okay I have like $5 in this or less!

So guess what I am doing tonight? Making the other 3 that I have that I can make. It is worth a shot.

Thanks for your congratulatory wishes. Even though I like the stuff I make, it is nice to know that other people do too! LOL! I still am self conscious about the stuff I make not being good enough, etc. I know...I need to get over that. I think that is why I like this set up so well. I make it and send it off. Someone else gets to sell it.

Sheila, Congratulations!! It is nice to have other people confirm that your stuff is good enough that they are willing to pay for it. I think we all are our own worst critics. I can find all types of little things wrong with my stuff but other people don't see those imperfections.
