Oooohhh I love the Vintage Layers of Lilly Pilly!

How do they do that with the clusters of pearls and crystals so uniform?!

Hmmm I ordered a kit! Now isn't that funny, lol. I probably won't enter anything but wanted to see what I come up with. Hopefully they aren't already sold out!

Yay Cat!  You'll have fun even if you don't enter, but if you make something you might as well.  You just never know.

I see the "Vintage Layers" necklace is just beads on headpins on chain, and it looks to me like she bulked up the larger beads toward the front and then tapered to the smaller beads as she went up from the center.  It looks more full in front just from the number of beads.  I imagine it took some playing with to get it to look just right.

    Thanks Jeni!

After seeing the entries and considered most of everything including the winners are woven designs I don't think I would ever stand a chance. You know me, no weaving really but I liked the idea since the first one launched and love seeing what so many people come up with.

I figured the Vintage Layers was just headpins on chain but it just looks so perfect. I guess it would take some playing with and lots of time to get the flow just right. Just wondered if there was a trick to it that I don't know about Wink

I'm with you, Cat. I looked at the kits, looked at the winners, saw that most of them were woven (I don't do any bead weaving either--I'm strictly a stringing or wire girl) and thought there was no way I could win. The winners are stunning! This is not an area where I am competitive, so I will admire them from afar and stick to the contests where I am stronger.

Scarlett doesn't even give a hint at what the muse is this time. First time she said where it came from, so if you went to the site, you had a clue that it would be brass fillagree. Second time she said it was a custom lilly pilly shell pendant, so even though you didn't know what colors or shape, you knew what it was. This time, I couldn't find any info at all about what it is. Inquiring minds want to know!

Good luck to all of you who ordered a kit!

Yup this pretty much sums it up for me. I figured the beads were worth the money (even though I'm broke right now and shouldn't have spent it) and the colors of the kit looked like they fall themed. So even if I don't come out with a winning design at least I have lots of beads in pretty fall colors to make something for myself.

That was my thought, too, Cat. The deadline is one day before my birthday and I don't know if I can come come up with something worth entering, but I'm ok with that. And no matter what, it will be fun playing with fall colors.

I agree.  I've already decided that anything I make from those kits is mine to keep whether I win or not.  It's just something fun to play with.  I took from the kit description that the Muse may be some type of copper or Tierra Cast component even though it doesn't say that.  I guess we'll find out soon enough.

I was thinking the same. She has a Tierra Cast logo thing or whatever they're called on her site, and with all those fall colors I would imagine it's copper.

Well Happy Birthday in case I don't get to tell you again! I'm ok with not winning too, the fun part is seeing the muse and what everyone does differently with the same kit.

Uh oh.  Maybe you could put a coating of laquer or something over the top to protect your skin?  Either that or make something that incorporates the copper so it doesn't touch your skin when you wear it.  Maybe a nice brooch?

I don't think tierra cast is real copper. Its pewter with copper plating. But probably the plating is still real copper, so I guess that doesn't really help.
