    Somebody Stop Me!

I think it's official.  I've finally gone over the edge.

    I bought a kiln yesterday.

And six packages of metal clay (4 PMC, 1 CopprClay, 1 BronzClay)

Plus an assortment of firing and finishing tools.

    Somebody stage an intervention!

     Lita,

All I can say is - can I come and play?  This sounds like wonderful fun!!!! Congratulations (if that is what one would say?)

Just send it all to me-that'll take care of it.Devil

Not that I'd run a 110-volt kiln over here-the cost to run it on a transformer would be more than the thing is worth!

OMG Lita-- FUN! You haven't gone over the edge, but it's sounding like you need to find a sales outlet! I don't blame you one little bit. That Metal clay is really addicting. I've been thinking of telling my DH that all I want for christmas is a couple of packages.... and enough space in the garage to set up my kiln and bead torch!

Can't wait to see what ELSE you make, your last set was STUNNING!

    Courtney -

You, and anyone else, is more than happy to come and play.  Seriously - I love having people over for beading and crafting.

I was thinking about offering a firing service for people who want to send me their unfired pieces, once I get the beast up and running.

Oh LIta-- that's a great idea. I think you should tell you LBS's about that. You might hold a monthly firing day! Might even pay for the electricity it uses!

Hmmm.... my post disapeared.... anyway, I think a firing service is a great idea. You might also put in a notice with your LBS and hold a monthly firing day.... just a thought.

    Re: Somebody Stop Me!

Lois - That would be a good idea, if my LBS didn't already have a kiln!  The unfortunate thing is, they won't fire pieces without holding a class.  If I offered a firing service, then I'd be in direct competition.

Supposedly, the electricity consumption is no greater than a convection toaster oven.  And boy, do I use my toaster oven!

Aw bummer. Oh well... still, you should offer the service and see what happens.

Lita - So are you thinking that you have gone over the edge and back around again? LOL!

I think I would at least ask the local LBS about it. Maybe you can teach a class for them and then people will know that you can fire their pieces for them.

    Anyway...Best of Luck with it!

Can I send my students to you? <LOL>

Seriously - congrats. Sure wish you were closer because I'd have you teach a class and you could provide the firing.

    Lita,

What fun!!  I wished I lived closer to come and play!!

By the way - my dad does intervention training (he's a semi-retired substance abuse counselor).    Let me know if you need him to come your way.  :>)

Wow, I didn't realize they used that little electricity.  You really didn't need to mention that. :)

Someday I'll buy a small kiln and start playing.  PMC is definitely something I want to try.  I thought about getting one that runs on feul but the base recently put a hiatus on getting in propane, and the Italians use different fuel with different cannisters so not sure if it will work.
