I made the world's Ugliest Necklace - official!

 As many of you have no doubt noticed, I'm a big fan of the Ugly Necklace Contest (run by the Land of Odds bead store in Nashville) and have entered a hideous creation into it for the past three years. I'm delighted to tell you that my persistence has finally paid off - I got the official notification last night that my piece is this year's winner!

I am over the moon and still checking every five minutes to make sure that I didn't imagine the message in my inbox! It may be a bit of a strange ambition to be able to say 'I made the ugliest necklace in the world', but it feels good to be able to say it nevertheless. Many thanks to all my beady friends who supported me, had a giggle at my silly poem, and voted for my entry - you are all stars. I'm planning next year's Ugly piece already - it has to be 'purple' next time around...

Lynn, this is so.......so......ugly! Congrats to that victory (could one congrat to such a "victory"? *laughz*)!

 Congrats on your win (is this the sort of thing to say when you win the ugliest necklace contest??@!!) - How exciting. I live in Nashville and this is one of my favorite local bead stores! Do you know if they are going to display it in the store? If so I will have to go take a peek in person - I saw your entry on the website and voted for you before I saw your original post here on BD.

Lynn- I got an error when I clicked on the link so I will try again later. I too am not sure the Congrats is the right term when it is the ugliest necklace, but since that was the purpose, CONGRATS!

Congrats on your win Lynn, and let me say that necklace lives up to it's name, but I loved your poem about it and I completely get it!  Hmmm, wonder if there's still a good use for all my UFO's after all...

I went to their site and saw it too. Very ...Unique! I can see why it won! I also love the poem. I can't tell you how many UFOs I have at my house...LOL!

The six semifinalists' entries will be on display at the Center for Beadwork and Jewelry Arts in Nashville until September 15, so hopefully some of you will get to see them. (I love the thought that my beadwork gets to all sorts of places I've never actually been myself!)

There are 3 bead stores in the Nashville area and luckily enough they are not too terribly far from each other. 2 are in the 100 Oaks, Berry Hill District (if you need directions I can provide them- shoot me an email if you need to)  - 1) Beadazzled Beads - which is the Land of Odds physical store and 2) Beaded Bungalow. The third is Stardust Gems and Designs - this is in the West Meade, Charlotte Ave area. All three are wonderful and all carry different things so if you are going to be visiting I would suggest going. My favs are Beadazzled and Stardust.

On another side note - what will your son be studying?

 Congrats Lyn on one very ugly necklace! Very cleverly done, with the threads hanging everywhere and all. The poem you created speaks for many of us I believe, you're not alone in UFO's.

I also liked that hideous seasons necklace, that one made me laugh too.

 Congradulations! Lynn, I can't wait to see this necklace. I have a number of pieces that turned out "Ugly". I missed this contest. Oh! well, I am glad you won!
