I wanna play too!

As I scroll through the "Bead Chat" section of the forums, I can't help but notice all the challenges and swaps going on. I also can't help but want to join in the fun! With all the different threads and the large number of responses to most of these threads, its hard to decipher which ones I can still get in on. This Independence Day weekend, my LBS is having a pretty big sale, so Friday I'll be coming home with a whole lot more to add to my stash- the perfect time to join a swap or challenge! My creative juices will be flowing overtime with all these new additions! Can anybody tell me what/where I can join up?

I suppose this is what I get from being away from BD for a while, eh?

 Bead Swap #2- it is now closed to sign ups but you may be able to catch the 3rd one when it's time. Read the guidelines that have been posted for this. Here is the thread for the new swap #2 http://www.beadingdaily.com/forums/t/3691.aspx Sherri and Lisa are handling the new swap #2 until Dawn can take back over.

This one is quarterly and the send off date for our first is July 24th. At that time I believe we will get new names. You can contact Lois on how to sign up for #2.

Earring swap- It is monthy and we are now finishing up #2 with the reveal and #3 has launched with a send off date of July 12 I think. On the same day we send our earrings we get our new name. You may be able to get in on that one. I think those earrings will be sent off mid August.

JSmaz Challenge Swap- I believe sign ups are closed but I'm not 100% positive. You can contact Jeni (JSmaz). This one we are all sending beads/components in the theme colors blue, green or yellow. She will make kits out of everything that was sent to her and everyone that contributed will get a kit. Then we all create something out of the kit. $2 in postage is also required to keep shipping costs down for Jeni. You can read more here http://www.beadingdaily.com/forums/t/3652.aspx

Flower Inspired Challenge- this is open to all BD members. You can read more about it here http://www.beadingdaily.com/forums/t/3242.aspx . THe date has been extended to July 18th. Also check under contests at the top of this page. You just have to create a piece inspired by flowers and email it. More instructions in the link provided.

Cat, THANK YOU for posting that summary!!!  I was just thinking earlier this morning that I wished someone would create a new thread just for keeping track of all the swaps and challenges.  Maybe Michelle would consent to adding a calendar to the website?  In the meantime, I'm going to bookmark this thread.  Since you're a participant in all of the swaps, will you PLLLEEEEEEASE maintain this thread for now?

NO problem Lisa! I think we all need it cause all the challenges/swap do get to be a bit much to keep up with. I have to start a calendar myself as some others have done to remember it all!

Hopefully! That would be great if we could get a calendar started for all this! Michelle and the BD team have been great with helping out with pretty much anything we ask so I guess maybe this one too!

Yes! A calendar would be an excellent idea- especially for those us who check BD a little sporadically...

I sent Michelle an e-mail with a link to this thread, asking about a calendar on the website.

No kidding, THANK YOU CAT!!!!!  I'm about as confused as I can get over all the dates, etc. for these swaps though I love them and have started something of a list on my own for them.  It's not as good as yours though! 

And THANK YOU LISA for asking Michelle if we can add a calender, it's a great idea!

 No problem! THat was an exercise in memory for myself! I think I am going to make myself a calendar to keep up cause it's getting so crazy with all the swaps and challenges. Keeps me focused though so I'm not complaining.

Its a little exciting to be a participant in my first swap! With that calendar, it'd be easy to keep up with the other ones I'll inevitably want to do

Isn't it though?  Most of the BD swaps are only a few months old, so I remember well my first swap (the first earring swap).  I had great fun designing a pair of earrings for my "target".  And it was awesome to receive a pair in the mail that had been designed just for me.  I treasure those earrings!

 Lisa...I love that bracelet in the picture you have as your icon...at least I think it's a bracelet...it is beautiful.

Lisa- Yes- I can't wait to get my bracelet! I'm also having lots of fun deliberating on what to make my "target" though too. The "figuring it out" part is always the most fun I think.
