    Technical question about scroll bars

    Hi there everyone,

I'm pretty new to this site and only very recently started looking at the forum. I seem to keep encountering a technical problem: Often when I click on somebody's post I can only see the upper part, which shows the person's name and then the scroll bar is missing, so that I cannot scroll down.

Any ideas how to overcome this problem?

    Many thanks.

    A

First off, i apologize for teh site giving you hassles. It's not supposed to do that. Bad website! *laughz* On to the problem at hand...

What browser are you using? I have encountered some buggy stuff with Firefox(not this particular problem), but Ie seems to be fine all around. If you are using a Mac, that may also be an issue, of which you would have to contact tech support.

You may also have some setting hooked up wrong in your profile. Click the Edit button beside you name up top right and then click on Site Options and make sure that you are set up to see the replies and what order that they are in, etc.

That's all I got off the top of my head. Check those and repost if you still have an issue.

    Hi Amanda,

Can you email me and tell me more about your system like whether you are using Internet Explorer, Firefox, etc. and which version number?   That will be the first thing that the tech folks here will want to know, so they can try and get the same error that you're seeing.

Re: Technical question about scroll bars

    Hi Michelle and Billy

Thanks so much for your quick response.
I do normally work with Firefox, but when I saw that things were going wrong, I opened the forum with Explorer, and still had the same problem.
I found that by zooming out I could eventually see the entire images being posted, but then the typing was sooo weenie that I certainly could not read it.
I think that the problem stems from the dimensions of the box that displays the posts... It's some default size that is the correct width, but only about 2 lines high. I've tried to figure out if I can change that default setting, but alas ..... :-`(

Thanks so much for your help with this.

Amanda, are you still having this problem?

I'm no IT tech by any means, but I wonder if it has something to do with the font size you have set for viewing internet pages?  You'll find it in the Tools menu of your IE browser, under the General tab.  I remember I made the font bigger on a laptop I used to have, and it really screwed up viewing internet pages.

    Just a thought!

When you have the tiny type, do you have more than two posts visible on your monitor?  If so, try using Ctrl+ to enlarge the type.  I had that particular problem when I started, now it works very well.  Otherwise, I cannot help you.

Or, with this post, if you can see it AND the next post, the above should help  [I just reduced font size until it was tiny and had that configuration.]

Re: Technical question about scroll bars

    Hi Crystal

Thanks for getting back to me.

I still have the same problem. This only happens on this site, and it's to do with font size (I think it's size 8 or 10) - Seems to me to be a problem with the dimensions of the box that the posts are posted in.... Something with that setting.

I'll send my hubby the link to this site and see if he experiences the same problem from his work pc - That should make us a little smarter :-) I'll let you know how that works out. He's a very smart guy so I hope he can figure this out.

Thanks, for now, and have a great weekend

Re: Technical question about scroll bars

BTW When I have tiny - unreadable type, I can almost see one whole post, :`(

We shall find the root to this problem and solve it ... somehow.

    :-)

    THanks A
