Does anyone know how to do something like this?

I don't want to know that exact project necessarily but how you can cage stones or beads would be cool. I can't find that magazine here.

Hi Shara,

browse through this homepage (especially the earring designs) and maybe you can find something similar or adapt a pattern:

In my opinion a bead can be caged easiest in byzantine variations/elements like the byzantine cross or the byzantine triple crown.

There was an article in a different issue of Art Jewelry (I think the July '08 issue) about a chainmaille bezel around a guitar pick.  I tried it around a piece of art glass and it worked great.  Besides, my hubby would be mad if I "borrowed" his guitar picks...

It's a really nice magazine if you like the type of projects it has-worth a 1 year subscription to see how you like it anyway.  I can probably only do about 1/4 of the projects, but you never know when you'll learn a handy bit of info you can use.

Oh no!  Shara, I love the earrings you link us to, and Dagmar, I love some of those styles as well.  NOW, I have to add yet another goal on my "learn to do" list.  LOL....what a tragedy!
