Well, this thread is dangerous! All of these adorable critters, and not a sobering thing in sight (now that we know Molly's going to be okay, at least... .. She is going to be okay, right? =/ ). Thanks Jsmaz (Jeni?) for sending me over here! hehe
All of this talk about very opinionated pets is making me laugh. I had a cat named Monty (sounds relatively unassuming, right? Until you learn it's short for Marquis de Montcalm. Yeesh!) who was quite the character. Your person was designed specifically for the purpose of being his throne/loungechair. He was the most regal cat I've met, and yet somehow also the least regal. He flopped, and rolled, and gallumped, and all kinds of other silly things. He was never too proud if the result was a belly rub. I loved that cat.
My parents' dog, Ginger. She's about 13 now, but she's still a good guard dog. She used to let our cats pet themselves on her
chin, when my parents still had cats.
Pardon the quality.. 'twas taken through a window (screen) and such. As
soon as she knows we can see her, she doesn't let them do it. XD She's
a goofball. (The cat in the picture's Phantom, my mom's old cat.) You can see her blissed out/long-suffering(?) expression, despite the blurriness. I love it. XD
Here, my mother-in-law has three cats (Sam, Spook, and 'Fluffa'/Priscilla), and two dogs (Jack Russell Terriers.. Alfonze and Frederick. I keep forgetting and wanting to call Al.. Alfred. >>;).
Anywho, now that imageshack doesn't hate me anymore, I can show you some of 'my' babies.
Sam.. He has the softest fur ever, and I love his tail. It's like a raccoon tail in Creamsicle colours. So cute!
Spook.. It's a miracle we even have this picture. She's .. very aptly named. XD If you know cats, I think you can probably tell by her body language that that was taken about two seconds before she was gone like a flash. ;p
"Fluffa"/Priscilla.. She's a Maine coon cat. She's very old, and sick now, the poor dear.. :|
I had to take pictures of them with flash, because I usually don't remember to take my camera in the day, and they refuse to sit near lamps or light. (How rude! :p) So, they all have different 'flash issues' with their eyes. Sam's eyes are pale, pale brown (tawny, I guess?), Spook's are this gorgeous light tealy blue, and Fluffa's are green. Ah, I love cats. ^-^~
And then there're the dogs.. I don't have any current pictures of them (they're about 2 years old now), so you'll have to make do with puppy pictures. (Such a hardship, I know!)
This is Fred.. He has what his 'mom' calls puppy ADHD. He's so hyper! But such a sweetie. He has this funny 'smudge' of black over his right eye that makes him look perpetually worried. So cute! XD
And Al, sitting in his 'mom's' lap. He's the cuddly pup. Although, they will fight each other for your lapspace, if you give them a chance. :p Al's a bit more attentive than his brother, but he can be quite the rascal.

My own personal 'character' is Rainey. I hope she will continue to bless my life with her oddities for a very long time. She's the most bizarre cat I've ever had, and I love her to pieces.
She keeps me company pretty much whenever she can get to me, but she
doesn't really like being cuddled or anything, anymore. She had some unpleasant experience with someone who doesn't know when to let an animal go. ._. She'll let me pick her up and set her on my
shoulder, but she'll only stay there for a while if I walk around so
she can look at stuff. heheh. She likes being up high so she can observe the world, and like every indoor cat I know, she adores sitting at windows and watching things. More so if the window's open and she can sniff the air blowing through (and hear the birds and insects, I'd guess).
She loves being outside, but we don't let her wander without
supervision because we live on a state highway thing. I wasn't used to
having an indoor cat before I moved here. My old cat Monty used to
follow me everywhere whenever I was outside, but I just figured it was because I was usually gone. He'd wait
for me at the end of the lane when I was supposed to be getting home
from school. My mom said he'd wait for about half an hour if I had a
practice or something (didn't come home on the bus), and then wander
back to the house looking dejected.
Poor guy.
I couldn't bring him with me when I moved here. I thought I'd bring him once I was settled; I didn't want to have to displace him more than once right away. They closed my
parents' road down for construction on a bridge, so
no cars were going through for about 2-3 months, and when they opened
it again, he got hit. ._. But yeah, I just figured he was so attached
to me when I was out because I wasn't out much, but Rainey does the
same kinds of things all day long.
She'll be napping next to me, I'll
get up and go somewhere else, and she'll wake up, follow me to wherever
and curl back up to nap again.
Her favourite resting spot is on either my husband or I when we're sleeping. She kneads the blankets 'til she's comfy, and then stretches out. If we don't go to bed when she thinks we should, she comes to poke us. "Um, hello? Hello? Come on, it's time for bed, let's go! Hello?" Sooo adorable~ <3 (If you're wondering, that sliver of a person is me. I fall asleep with my glasses on all the time. So glad that 'tune-ups' are free at my optometrist's office... :p )
If I close a door behind me, she'll
stick her paws under the door, paw up at the door handle, and meow to
be let in/out (depending on where I am. :p) She hasn't quite figured out how to open doors herself, but I'm wondering if it's just a matter of time, because she definitely gets that that thing up there is what makes it open. When I go to visit my family, my husband says she slinks around kind of looking pathetic, and looks for attention all the time. hehe. He obviously doesn't know how much attention the little dear usually gets... XD;
She also runs to answer the phone when it rings... jumps up, sits in front of it, sniffs at it until you come to answer it, and then she looks at you as if to say 'what took you so long?' My mother-in-law jokes that we should train her to take messages.
And! We play tag. I chase her into the kitchen and ruffle her fur a bit, and then she chases me down the hall and bats at my ankles. It's so much fun, and so darned cute!
I found an utterly silly picture of her. I took this back when we first got our new (not so great) camera, and kept getting weird results from the flash. This is one example. :P
Doesn't she looks sinister? Hee.
She's obviously plotting her next daring heist from my beading stash! :O!
This is where she hangs out while I'm beading or whatever. She looks like a (n adorable) lump in this picture because she'd just come home from the vet, so she was kinda sleepy. She's so long that she can stretch across the entire back of my chair, but when she curls up, she looks so tiny! Talk about optical illusions.. ^-~
[[I'm sorry about the wall-o'-text quality of this. When imageshack gets over its temper tantrum I'll post more pictures to break it up a bit. :x! ]]*
