any source I've found, the chain looks nothing like the one in this instruction guide. Where can I find such a fat chain, or did they misname it?

In the list of items needed, they have a hyperlink to where you can get the bracelet. Surprise, it's a little expensive.
Happy Beading!!

Yes, that's why I was looking for unfinished chain. :)
I just did a search on Yahoo for (curb link chain by the foot) and there were several sources. Amazon listing has several sizes @ $2.99 per foot.
My LBS has it for $1.99/ft

I found plenty of curb link chains....just none that fat/wide, where the holes are actually that small.
would that project work with a thinner chain?
BTW, what is LBS?
Windy, LBS = local bead store
Yes, it could be made with a different weight of curb ........ as long as the holes will accept the material you will weave through it. Did you check Rio Grande? Fire Mountain? Those would be the first two places I'd go. Also, I'd check local retail stores for a similar bracelet. How expensive was that one? Donna
I checked Fire Mountain. Never heard of the other one! The closest bead store we have is a Michaels aand they don't have much of a selection.
Can you post the size of the chan you are looking for? 7mm, 8mm or larger
Ummm. Uhhhh. I guess I don't know! Those instructions didn't specify, so I guess any size will do. I didn't even look at sizes on the chains I looked at....I ust noticed that none were as thick as the picture in the instructions.
I think that D.M.Z has it nailed for you. Determine the size of the material that you want to use and them you can shop for the chain that will meet your needs. Very hard to guess the weight of the chain by looking at a picture. The curb chain comes in many sizes, hole opening that is.
Windy, what about this one? http://www.amazon.com/Heavy-Chain-Bracelet-Surgical-Stainless/dp/B003Q2IXSK
I have found others, but they are usually in sterling or whatever and much more expensive.
I hope you can make that bracelet, it looks cute and it would be interesting to see if it is as cute as I think, etc. Donna
Wow. I must be cheap. For that much money, I want a whole yard of chain!
Is there a difference in "curb" chain and just plain link chain?
i looked at that picture again. It looks like hammered/flattened chain, doesn't it?
Donna,
I like that bracelet, and surgical steal will not change colors. What a great find.
