Okay, here's another one of my pieces. I have to confess, I was l little ambivalent about this necklace at first. I wasn't 100% about it and was half-tempted to pull it apart and start over. On a whim, I decided to give it a chance, and started to wear it out. Am I ever glad I did!
Ever since I started wearing this, I get compliments fom people ALL THE TIME. It's a mixture of agate, porcelain, glass dark aquamarine and crystal. I was inspired by a gemstoone magazine I sent away for; the name escapes me at the moment. I thought "Funky Chunky" seemed appropriate. Hope you like it. Sorry I don't have a better pic.

Val, I don't really "do" necklaces, but that one is super attractive. I'd wear it too. Good combo of colors and arrangement. Donna
Dear Val,
Strange, I replied to this post yesterday but I don't see it. So I'll try again.
What a lovely piece of natural jewelry! Love the big stones and colour combination. Did you borrow your father's camera in the end? Maybe it's better to show this necklace with a white background so that the colours come out better. Hope you don't mind me saying this.
Greetings from Karin.

This is so cool. And "funky chunky" is the perfect name. Big stones is a favourite, although I don´t use many of those in my own beadwork.
And way to go on the colors, wonderfully put together.

Val, it's a very dramatic piece, and I think you we're very brave to make it. I'm glad you did not make the decision to rip it up! Thanks for sharing!
Sharon Mc
Thanks for the love everybody!
Sharon: yes, it is one of the most dramatic pieces I've done, but somehow, it works, maybe because I balaced it with smaller beads. It rests very nicely on my clavicle.
Karin: no, not at all. I was rather hoping the red background might make it pop a bit more, but in hindsight, I think something a bit more neutral might have st it off a bit better. It's a learning process. I appreciate constructive criticism; it helps me improve!
Thanks again, everyone; stay tuned for more!
Also, if anyone's interested, and I don't get smacked for a little shameless self-promotion, my new webstore is under construction. Just entered my inagural blog entry on my site Just head to boutiquev.us and have a peek. I'll be putting pieces up for sale real soon.
Val, loved your new website. You are truly talented if you created and wrote the code for your own site! Are you nervous at all about this new undertaking? Good luck, and don't forget to add the name of your web site permanently to your forum signature.
yeah you borrowed a camera. It looks rellaty nice, like the mixture of diffrent beads
Hope you all are having a great day.If you want to see more made by me please visit my Faebook page:https://www.facebook.com/NiwasSmycken?

This is a cool piece Val!! More like the one to be worn on beach under the blue sky and beautiful sea in front... (lost in the dream)
Sharon Mc:Val, loved your new website.
Hi Val and Sharon,
Sorry, maybe I'm very stupid. I looked for your website, val, but I couldn't find anything. Please help me!
Two minutes later.................. Found it, I should learn to read properly. It's always been a problem.
Oh, Sharon! I should be so smart! I had help! But the site has turned out beautifully so far, and I'm really chuffed! Ooops, I mean pleased! I was speaking to one of my British cousins and forgot to switch out of Brit slang! Been an Anglophile almost my whole life and know their slang as well as I know my own. They let me get away with it because of that and because I use it in proper context.(g)
Oh, yeah, I'm very nervous about running my very own independent site, but I've had lots of encouragement so.....here I go!
Karin: glad you found it!(lol)

I hear ya, Gopika. I kinda think that's the mindset I was in when I designed it. It takes me out of this horrid weather, at least mentally.
Hi Val,
Love the necklace and earrings; too heavy for me, but the stones work well together. Glad you decided to let the public have a say. Karin's right, maybe a more neutral background would work better. Nice work.
Looked at your website -- nice logo. Will be back soon. Best wishes.
