I am doing some beaded crochet using DMC Perle cotton 5 and 6/0 Czech beads, and can't figure out what size bugle bead would work with these, in spite of having spent some time going through my books, some web sites, and some online bead shops . I taught myself beaded crochet, using the great Interweave title The Beaded Edge.
Which bugle bead size would work with Perle cotton #5 and 6/0 Czech beads?
Thanks for help, or for suggestions of sites or of books with this info?
Cheers!
Beth
FMG has a chart of bead sizes and holes. What that chart shows is 6/0 seed beads have and ID of 1.7mm and bugles of 0.82. I imagine these are approximations as they'd probaly fluctuate between manufacturers. But this is the best I could find in a quick search.
Beth, most bugle beads will have that same ID, the "size" in bugles refers to their length. The shortest ones are not much longer than a typical cylinder bead, the longest will make fringes quickly as they are nice and long. But that size thing is not going to help you match a bugle to a 6/o bead. I only have cotton thread here in size 10, so no help to you there. Donna
Thanks so much for the info on bead sizes... So much to learn about beads!
