Check out the thread (Posts) on "wrap bracelets" . There are pictures. I made Grandson's some of these in "Earth Tone Colors". They ended up wearing them . I was sure they would become "Decoration for their rear view Mirrors". If you google "Shambala Bracelets", the video is easy to follow.

Do you know Helm weave? I have made that using rubber rings for the inner rings and no clasp (just stretch onto wrist), and have sold them to many males. But that is a bracelet, and now looking again, I see you are asking for a necklace. Here is a link to a chain maille specific forum, you may get a a better response there. I don't know how many people here do chain mail.
