Another forum I am on recently had a Steampunk challenge and this is what I entered. The frame is a wire Indian bangle that I wrapped with trimmed down bias binding and brick stitched around. The angel wings are Japanense bugles formed in herringbone. The spider is a peyote bezeled cab with a decorated button for the head and the legs are twisted bugles and wooden disc beads. Its not a fantastic picture I know but you get the idea. The red coil shaped parts are a tip of the hat to Captain Nemo and the Nautillus and are done in a right angle weave variation. I've ordered some more copper chain to finish it of quite simply.

OMG, Kathi, that is too cute! You are far too clever by half. That looks pretty involved; did it take a long time to design and execute?

Thank you Val for your lovely words. I actually think the hardest part for me was getting my head around the whole Steampunk concept. It was quite a learning curve but I really enjoyed it.
I LOVE IT
The flour de lis adds the perfect touch, too.

Thank you Megan.
Kathi:
I like the bumps or dots on the head of the spider -- like the multiple eyes that spiders have. I love it when art work mimics nature -- even if just a little.

I understand completely, Kathi. I'm still kinda trying ti figure it out, myself. I designed a pair of earrings for one of my English "cousins," who's a big Dr. Who fan(so am I!) and I used some steampunk for the concept of her earrings. Now that Dad has finally emptied his camera card, I'm going to take some photographs and share them again. BTW, if any of you are interested in seeing the pictures from the storm from last Thursday, let me know and I'll post them. Word of warning: They're a bit hair raising!
Dr. Who major influence, totalluyaddicted/
Somehow I suspected as much! Can't wait for the 50th anni special!
Thanks Sue, you cant really see but the eyes are red 4mm pearls. Val, can't wait for the 50th anniversary, would love to see some sort of film collage all all the Dr's through the years. Would love to see your earrings and not sure about the storms. My best friends brother live in NOLA so we were all pretty scared over here but thankfully he was fine. Little bit of power outage but thats all thank goodness.
Sadly, they'll have to use archival footage of Hartnell, Troughton and Pertwee since they've passed on. However, the other 8 Doctors still live, and I'm really, realy hoping they'll convince Christopher Eccleston to do it, as well as Paul McGann. I'm sure they'll have no problems getting Tom Baker; I just hope he still has that 10 foot long muffler!(g) I grew up with Tom, but Christopher will always be my favourite Doctor. Dreamy sigh.......oh, I like Matt Smith very much, too.
We had a big tree smash onto our house. It was scary! And I've lived throgh hurricanes and tornados, but this weird storm was scarier! It just popped up out of the blue!
Oh Va thats awful, was there much damage. Remember when I was 8 and hiding behind the sofa when the Cybermen came, they were much scarier to me than the Daleks. I hope they find a way of bring The Master back I love the confrontation lol
Smashed up our deck roof. We have to have the whole thing replaced. Took off some off the shingles on the house roof, too. We lost one of our windbreak pines in the backyard, too, but fortunately that didn't hit anything.
I dunno, I think the Daleks are the creepiest! "Exterminate! EXTERMINATE!!!!" I really don't know how they can bring the Master back; he's used up all his lives, so he's pretty much toast. Afaik, the Rani's not dead, though, so they could bring her back.
Jeez, this is awesome. I LOVE it! So cool with the spider and all. Way to go. Make some more!!!!!
