Wow, I learned an important lesson today! I'm new to beading. I was storing my finished bracelets in little ziplock bags, but then changed to cardboard jewelry boxes as I thought it looked more professional. Well, my bracelets seemed to tarnish quite quickly, esp. the ones where the lids were on the boxes. Then I researched 'tarnish' today and learned that they should be stored in plastic bags. I guess cardboard can be acidic and cause items to tarnish quicker. Now I'm thinking of giving my customers a little print out of how to take care of their jewelry so they don't end up storing them incorrectly. Just wondering what others use to package their jewlery and if others have had to learn this the hard way.
you can also store your silver with a small piece of everyday white chalk. Or even those little packages that come in your box of shoes, or vitamins. I keep the little packages where I store my silver wire. It does help keep the tarnish at bay.
Happy Beading!!
