Hey all! So I just finished my first RAW bezel of a round cabochon and it came out as perfect as I could ask for (yay!). I have matching cabs which are long rectangles and squares that I'd like to bezel with RAW (if possible) as well.  Do I just do it the same way as the circular cab? Or do I have to do something extra or even not use RAW at all?

Hi Ritathebeader-

I have never bezeled with RAW so I can't answer your question with experience. I know that it can be done I just don't know if you would need to add any beads around the straight edged part of the rectangles and sqaures.kwim?  If you were doing a peyote stitch the answer would be yes you'll need to add beads at the corners to stretch the bezel around the straight edges. But with RAW I'm not sure, since it is basically a sqared type of stitch.

Somewhere in my stash of "HOW TO's" I have something on how to bezel around odd shaped beads. I'll see if there is anything in it that would be of help to you. It may take me a bit to find it though.

Hopefully someone will see this post who has done this and answer your question before I can find what I'm looking for.

Sorry, I wasn't of more help.

Now, off to look through my stash of stuff.

Me again -

Well, I went through my stash and I found how to bezel with RAW...but it was for a round cabochon. Rats! Tongue Tied

And the one that I had on bezeling odd shapes was for peyote stitch. Looks like I struck out.Sad

Sorry

Hopefully someone will come along this evening after they get off work and be able to help you. If not then I would suggest sending Jen our editor an e-mail and ask her. I'm sure she'd be able to give you some advice on how to get it done.

If you do figure it out let me know 'cause now I'm wondering.Hmm Confused

Good Luck

You can use RAW, just make a decrease at each of the corners. I've got a tutorial floating around somewhere that I can post in the Beading Instructions later this week. Just use your size 15/0 beads in the corners, and make sure you skip the beads at the corners! Does that make sense?

Rita, I hope you post a pic when you're done.  I think that a rectangle bezeled in RAW would be quite interesting.  I've only bezeled with peyote & netting, so I'd love to see yours.
