I am trying to fix my son's amber teething necklace by replacing the screw clasp. How do I knot the string so that the knot is snug against the bead and clasp?
hmmm can you post a picture? That might help.
I'm not replying with any help Im afraid but just to say I would like to know exactly the same with my sons amber necklace :O)!! I just looked up and this website came up. I have attached the clasp but it is miles away from the end and looks silly! I can't work out how to make the know flush inside the clasp.
I meant to type 'knot' not 'know'!!
Try making a loose overhand knot first, and inserting a sewing needle inside the knot. Then use the needle to gently slide the knot toward the beads. If the clasp stays behind, you should be able to gently pull the end of the string - with the needle still in the knot - to bring it closer. Then, remove the needle and make a second overhand knot (for a double knot).
Be sure to leave a little bit of space, though, between the clasp and the beads. Otherwise, the necklace may be too stiff.
Let me know if that works!
