Yes, I know it's rapid. Far too rapid, in my opinion, however, this advice from GIA (Gemological Institute of America) does illustrate the problem with silk.
And, that's why I don't use it on anything but the most expensive pearls and why I always discuss the choice with clients.
I, too, do client work cheaply and/or for free AND because I rarely use silk, I don't have to do much of it! (Or at least I very rarely need to re-do my own work.)
