Been reading the rules for 2013 bead star and was a little curious, they do not mention or say anything about having to write a description of how to make the piece if it wins. I was wondering if anyone knows if this means that they are assuming that we will know that we will have to do this or dose this mean that it will no longer be required if you win?

Just wondering because it seems that you can make work that is far more complicated if you are not required to describe its execution

I am hoping that the entrance fee will help support the contest, over all I think the changes are good, LOVE that you can enter more then once in each category but not in more then one category for each piece!!

I have to say the new format of showing all entries together is very confusing to me. I'm not sure what catagory each piece was in, or if I voted in each catagory.I suspect this is the last year of this contest.

Just curious...I thought that the last day to enter pieces was 4/28. Why is there an entry posted 5/10 in the Metal category finals?

2011 Bead Star winners Congradulations.

The 2011 Bead Star Magazine arrived at my friends store today. I was there and got a look as it came out of the box. I won't reveal who Won, but I want to congratulate all that won. I loved all the designs. You all did a wonderful job, and I was glad to see some of my BD friends listed in the top three places.

Once again GOD JOB you all and you know now who you are.

wow looks like they are making some changes for Bead Star 2012

Wow I can’t wait to see the new rules next week, it looks like they are making some big changes if I read that right, bead star will not be a separate magazine anymore but published inside “Stringing” I wonder how much else will change can’t wait to see. No seed bead category and ceramics is a new category they were also very clear about techniques and keeping things very simple.

I think this is great!!

Does the photo have to be 640 x 480 layout or is it fine 480 x 640 layout?

Why change the DPI for submission?

First- I'm having trouble figuring out how to do it. I've changed the pixels with no problem but I can't even tell how many DPI my picture is to either confirm it's 72 or to change it.

As far as I have read on the net, changing the DPI is rather pointless.

So can I get some direction on how to do it, what program is available to do it, and why this has to be done?

I was reading the rules regarding photography, and it states the piece must be entirely visible in the photograph... Does this mean the use of busts are not acceptable?

Am having trouble fitting my JPEg into these measurments. Possibly because I have the very first digital camera ever made (it was a gift) the Kodak Easy Share DX7440 with the Kodak Easy Share software. Anyone else have this camera and software that can clue me as to how I can get this picture down to the exact 640x480 file at 72 dpi? I don't have photoshop, just Easy Share. I shot the picture at 4.0mp in the camera (as the User's Guide says THAT is the 640 x 480 file size.) It always comes out larger in the picture information button. And do I send it as full size or e-mail size. Thanks all. -Laura
