Fed up with moderation.

Last week I tried to help someone and looked up some links on beaded ornaments. My post never came through and I'm really fed up with it. I don't even know why it was blocked. Couldn't I at least get to know the reason why my message wasn't posted? It's not very encouraging if moderation gets this severe. It spoils the fun.

I know I'm not the only frustrated one.

Spam on twitter from the beading daily or???

Hi everyone,

Just now I've got an private message from the beading daily on Twitter. It said; FYI this twitter profile (blablabla) is spreading nasty blogs around about you.

When I clicked on the link 'Twitter asked me to fill in my password and user name. I found that a bit strainge so I didden't do it. But I was still curious so I clicked the link again and then there was a sign that said; Google had detected this site as a phishing company something something.

I don't know what to make of this?! Did somebody hack the daily's twitter? I'm always very careful with this kind of things, but I don't know what to do now. Should I mention this to the beading daily?

And did someone else also had this message?

The last couple of days I've tried to post new work into the beading photo galleries. It doesn't work. I get a message that there's an error somewhere and that I should contact my moderator. But I don't know who he or she is. Can anybody help?

Sometime in July or early August, I was notified that there was a new free e-book called Learn How to Bead Crochet Jewelry: 4 Free Bead Crochet Patterns. Why is it NOT in the Free Projects like all the other free e-books? AND why is there no connection from the VanBeads blog to that e-book?

Professional finish on elastic bracelets

Hi. I am brand new to this so forgive me if I'm not doing this correctly! Today I saw the most fantastic bracelet . . . large brushed gold beads with a druzy (sp?) as the focal bead. My friend said it cost $350, and it was elastic!! Either end of the druzy had loops through which the elastic ran; then back through some gold coiled material and a crimp, on either side. It was a gorgeous piece but I have never seen the gold coil crimp device anywhere. Does anyone know where I can find such a thing??

Also, I've always wondered about the difference between regular elastic and gossamer floss (which I've never used but have read about it). Thanks tons.

Spam Users on BD?

I was browsing the Stalker Bar (as I call it.. I'm a fan of privacy -- not letting people know when I'm online) and there was 4 new users that were pretty much spam.

Nothing to do with beading, jewelry, beads, wire, gemstones,.. much less art.

I'm kind of uncomfortable with this. Has anyone else notice these "users"?

1. Members may advertise their tools, beads and supplies for trade or sale in the Bead Barter forum. Please, members only.

Example: Member post: Where can I find spool knitters? LBS member: I have them, contact me for details. END of transaction in Forums. No prices or other commerce information is allowed. Members are allowed web links in their signatures. (See Guidelines # 3)

Hope this helps clarify the selling confusion. if someone asks, answer, but do not post sales etc. When a member sees this, gently remind those people to review our guidelines. If abuse continues, let us know.

Years ago I had a pattern that used rice shaped beads that I formed into round beads. In spite of making dozens of them, I've forgotten how and have lost the instructions for it. Is there anyone out there that can help please? Thanks in advance and happy 4th to all.

Pls. can someone help me with some problems. I start beading about several month ago,,,and Im good at it,,but when I need to finish my peace of jewerly I stoped!! I do not now what to do with threads on the and, I work at loom and my favorite peyote stich?? I made some great neckles but at the and I have on both sides for 8 threads what I should do with them?? I cant put them back in neckles cause I have many threads ,,my seed beads isnt big enough.Pls help me,,thank You all!!!!

Dear Beading Daily Community,
In the last few weeks we had an awkward situation that seemed to create confusion as to how Beading Daily is run. I'd like to clarify what Beading Daily’s purpose is and share how we can all be a part of the site with more awareness for everyone's position. To help do this we’ve created some Community Guidelines for our site. They can be found under the Community Center forums.

The site is here primarily for education and sharing, both good things and hard things. When it comes to sharing hard things, its best to keep the post as respectful as possible, even if you're fuming. The atmosphere here needs to be as open as possible, so that everyone can be heard for their advice, position and concerns. However, emotional posting puts us all in a hard place, and Beading Daily reserves the right to remove content that can be damaging to the whole site and our community. Please read the new Guidelines that I've created as these are also part of our Terms of Use for using the Beading Daily website. If you have further questions or concerns about this, let me know.

Personal Conduct and Posting Etiquette – “Don’t be a jerk”

   1. Debating, discussion, and even passionate disagreement is fine, but we cannot tolerate rudeness, insulting posts, or personal attacks. Posts of this kind may be edited or deleted.
   2. Profanity, racism, or other offensive discussions will not be tolerated. Posts of this kind may be edited or deleted. We have the final say as to what does and does not violate community standards.
   3. We encourage you to upload your own custom avatar to help showcase your own personality. But do not upload an animated avatar, an avatar that contains nudity, or is otherwise offensive. Avatars that may be confused with staff or moderator avatars are also not allowed.
   4. Be tolerant of “newbie” type questions and continue to help out beginners. We all were new at something at one time or another and we want to encourage more people to get involved. Beginners–there are no stupid questions! Ask away!
   5. Post your messages and images in the appropriate topic area. Moderators may move your content if they feel it’s better suited to another area.

   1. Registering with multiple accounts is not allowed. Multiple accounts undermine trust that there are real, honest people behind each account. Moderators may remove accounts that are found to be duplicates.
   2. The decision to edit, move, or delete a post, or to ban a user, is at our sole discretion without prior notification or explanation to the member.
   3. Members who willfully or repeatedly violate the forum rules may be banned from the site. This is something we only want to do as a last resort.
   4. While these rules cover most common situations, we cannot anticipate everything. Consequently, we reserve the right to take actions we deem appropriate to ensure these forums are not abused and stay a positive, fun, and safe place for everyone.
   5. If you see someone abusing the site, please click the Report Abuse link located in the bottom-right of any post. This sends a message to a private forum for our moderators to review. The moderators may not be able to respond to you personally and you may not see immediate action, but please know that your message has been received and taken into consideration.

All members are equal

Dear members,

Recent aggressive posts against a member who happens to work for an advertiser have been removed because of those posts' rude attitude, and because the posts continued to revisit a resolved issue in a hostile manner. Such posts against any member will always be removed. There is no inequitable treatment nor exceptions from us towards our members. The inequitable perceptions have come from members who do not give courtesy to other members.

Any member may work for a shop or company. SoftFlex Guy made his name a clear connection to his company, which we believe made him an easy target. But other members who suggest products or web sites may indeed be in the same position. All members are equal and treated equally.

Our rules on advertising posts are clear, they have been and continue to apply to ALL members. A simple email to us "is this okay?" is all it takes for further clarification. The rules stand for every member: replies to direct inquiries are okay, which is what SoftFlex Guy did. Accusations of rule-breaking were determined to be incorrect. Even so, hostile posts against this member continued.

Members reported are contacted if those reports are determined to be rule-breakers. No one is summarily banned. Repeatedly ignoring our reminders may need further action such a post removal. Reports should be to the Mods and us. Please give us time to address those reports. Posts inciting fears of being banned for breaking rules are unfounded and will be removed as we come across them.

It is okay to post civil frustrations with any products from any member in a respectful way, but give those sellers a chance to address your issues, first, privately. This applies to advertisers, LBS owners, or any member with whom you have done commerce. .

The rule being broken of late is how to publicly address ANY member of Beading Daily, including Interweave staff members and advertiser members. Everyone deserves respect. Honesty and candor should still be civil. And, the focus of posts should be on making jewelry.

Political views of corprorate America or any other unrelated topic belong on more appropriate forums, not ours.

Posts which are rude, disrespectful or hostile will be removed and the member contacted with an explanation.

Banning is a last resort, and most members need not worry about it, ever. But we will take this action to keep the forums a pleasant, relaxed, and honest place to learn, share, and make friends.

Thank you all. Let's get back to making jewelry.
