Christmas tree jewelry

Hello from Canada. I just join this morning and am enjoying this beading community. But help! I have to make a Christmas ornament for our annual exchange. Last year I beaded a few "necklaces" in Christmas colours and glued them on a pillar candle. The effect was nice. This year I am looking for an ornament pattern. Thanks in advance.

I am very new to beading and love peyote. I found a splendid pattern on the internet but it calls for 230 different colors. Probably 200 of them are only quantities of 1 and 2. And of course, some of the single colors can be dropped. Even still...cannot afford that amount of colors.

But...the project got me to thinking about bead exchanging or selling. I am wondering if you guys exchange/sell and how that works.

I love beading and actually just purchased a loom. Works great. Never thought I would get into this but totally love it.

Hello,

I just started beading recently after taking couple classes at local Joann store (US). I happened to came cross Bead Work magazine and fall in love with it.

I'd like to kow if there is a beginner website/book and step for step instructions some where. I really want to make a Forested Flower Necklace (Feb/March 2009 Bead Work issue) for a Christmas gift, not sure if I can master the skill in couple weeks!

I live in ireland, i have been living over here for 6 years, i lived in spain

for a few months, but i was born in England and lived most of my life there.

I craft in a few different things, card making, flower arranging and i have made

a few different bit's of jewellery, but i really want to get into jewellery making alot

more, i don't really know that much about jewellery making, so i think this site

is going to help loads, so i hope to learn loads more.

Hi, my name's Kathy and I've been a 'self-taught' beadweaver for about 6 years. I've

been 'out of the loop' of computer technology for awhile, so i'm trying to 'catch-up' on

the whole idea of forums/blogs/and websites...i'll soon be experimenting with photo-

graphing my beadwork, so that maybe i can show it to other people online. I LOVE

to peyote stitch (both flat and tubular) and just love beads in general, working with

colors and patterns...i'm also an amatuer 'lapidarist'(is that a word?), carving rocks

and semi-precious gems...my 'specialty' is carving opal leaves...they look wonderful

as an addition to beadwork..!anyway, i look forward to communicating and contributing

with fellow bead lovers...hope to 'chat' soon

Hi! I'm Laura Willoughby and am of couse new to the forum. I live in Mississippi so beading materials and lessons aren't readily avaiable.. I learned the little bit bit that I doknow fromworking for ar and artisan jeweler for a few months [she taught me wrapped loop, how to close off simple necklaces,some info about the different stones etc], and I've learned from magazines and online as well. Although I get frustrated at many of the patterns from from magazines because so often they call for 1 or 2 itemsthrroughout the pettern. For example: 1 amber potato pearl, 1 rainforest jasper 6 mm round,etc.

Enough griping, I really do love tis hobby and am glad to have found this blog Any suggestion will be greatlyappreated.

I've done a bit of posting around, but not introduced myself yet. I'm Jessah, a self-taught East Coast beader not waiting for romance to live my life. My beading has become a real part-time job that I can work on while working my other part-time job, and after seven years of development and refusal to give up (even when I sort of tried), it's picking up speed.

Well hello all. I have been lurking about for a little bit bu have introduced my self yet. So here I am. I love crafts and have my hand in a little bit of everything. I have been doing stuff with beads for a long time and have really just started doing more of it. I lvoe all of the designs and love to learn new things. My favorite colors are puplre and silver. I enjoy reading everything on here and want to start getting into some of the exchanges. I have done many exchanges on some other websites and want to switch and start doing the ones on here. Everyone does such a great job and i love looking at the pictures. Cant wait till I can get involved too.

am i off my nut or does it seem to others that the "beading daily" posts are all about selling us something? i don't remember the last time i've learned something...anything. i've been pretty disappointed with the turn the newsletter has taken. i opened todays excited to find out how to make resin beads only to find out i have to buy the december issue of a magazine to get the directions. at least every other day some new book or subscription is being advertised. please tell me: am i wrong?

Hi there. I am new to bead forums and forums in general but am very much looking forward to talking with like minded people.

My little (although he thinks he is now quite big) boy is now 2 and a half, and just over a year ago I started planning a small business I could run from home whilst spending the maximum amount of time watching him grow up. I have always been fond of anything that sparkles and with limited space I fell upon beads with enthusiasm. The last year has been a big learning curve (both on the bead and business front) but as of last week my business was finally 'turned on' and already I have made three sales . . to say I am over the moon would be an understatement

I am really looking forward to getting to know you all a bit better!

I've been interested in beading for the past 4yrs and finally started bead weaving in April. In those 4 yrs I started buying supplies but didn't find my niche til I realized that they weren't going to make things on their own! So after I got over being affraid of using up my stash I tried bead weaving and love it!! All of the info I needed to get started was on the internet and I didn't even realize it! LOL! Thanks Beading Daily for all your help and inspiration!! Now I'm in the process of setting up my pics on Etsy and my blog-I even started up a business because I wanted to save the name that I wanted!

I like to use beading looms of all kinds. I make rosettes that I taught myself to do, along with a book. I also taught myself to use the looms. Right now I am making memory wire bracelets in school colors along with a school mascot charm. I make other color memory wire bracelets also. If I can't find a charm, I make one from a tie pin. I cut off the back and super glue a jump ring that I made to the back. I like to sew and do cross stitch also. I wish there was an easy way to share pictures with each other on here.

My name is Marsha and I've been making beaded jewelry since I was a teenager. As I got older I discovered there was more to beading than just getting things from craft stores...I discovered bead stores and bead shows! I've been extra hooked ever since lol!

I have made lots of my own jewelry and get inspired by jewelry I see in stores, that I don't want to pay for because I can just make it :) In grad school, my friend and I used to make and sell a lot of jewelry and I used to sell a lot during the holidays. Now that I am married with 2 small children my beading activity has slowed down quite a bit :( But not a day goes by that I don't think about or have the desire to make something...anything! I can't go in Michael's, Hobby Lobby or a bead store without buying beads! It's a lovely addiction :) and my husband always has to give me a $ limit.

Anywho, I just wanted to introduce myself and say hi. I am looking forward to getting lots of great ideas and insight from you all and hopefully get the time to get back to designing some nice pieces again!

Ok, so this is Kaela again:) Here are the pictures of some of the jewelry i have made, my best stuff i dont have pictured because the camera just wont capture it really well because its black and so it ends up looking like a blob on the camera. but these are my lighter colored pieces. Hi Everyone, my name is Lina and I have been beading for a little over a year. It was introduced to me by a friend who has been doing it for over 30 years. I find it to be very relaxing and best of all, I haven't bought any jewelry in quite some time...I jus make it. I started by taking classes and quickly realized that it wasn't for me...I just didn't have the patience to sit for hours so I started downloadin patterns and just reading them and following them. I have hundreds of them and I realized that all I had to do was teach myself and use the money I made to buy more beads.

I have started teaching classes and realized I have more patience to teach than learn. I formed a venture called Beads and Blessings and am hoping to be able to grow it in my spare time. I have done a few craft shows and have quickly realized that people will buy designer stuff that is gold tone or silver tone and spend hundreds but most will not spend the same amount for sterling silver, but I stay upbeat and if I can sell something, I am happy.

I hope to come here more often to read all your posts.

Greetings!

I'm an interior designer turned jewelry designer. I work with all types of beads, wire wrapping and PMC and have dabbled with polymer clay and epoxy. My latest interest is bead wrapped brooches.

I've been beading a little over a year and, given a layoff in April, have been trying to get a business started. I'm working on a logo and a website. I've done a few art fairs and craft fairs, but I'm considering kicking it up to the next level by accepting credit cards. I'm wondering if anyone has any recommendations, good or bad, for credit card merchant services. I'm looking at Flagship, but I'd love comments from people who have used services at art fairs, etc. to know which one is the most reliable and the least expensive.

I need help

I have done stained glass for 20 years, then about 5 years ago got into fused glass then into beaded, torch, silversmithing, etc. Just hobby. Just like I intended the glass to be. Well, I said I would never become a business again and here I go. I am at the point where I can only wear so many necklaces and I am tired of teaching people so they can make money on jewelry. I got my EIN number and I can't remember if I got a business license or not. I sell wholesale. I will be going to my first bead show and get to stay with my daughter in Tuscon and trying to get everything done. When I sold stained glass I sold wholesale and had dealers, but in order to get wholesale prices I had to get a business phone, brochures, business cards, EIN and I'm not sure about the license. Any advice you can give me would help.Margie

I've been desigining jewelry for nearly 20 years. I thought I was getting out of it when I moved to my little farm 6 years ago but I have had more teaching opportunities than I had when I was in San Fran! Today I'm into all things fiber: I raise Shetland sheep & Angora bunnies. I spin, crochet & I'm currently learning to weave. My weaving instructor weaves with wire and maked 3-D sculptures out of it. Awesome!

I'm still searching out new styles & keeping up with design techniques. Step-by-Step Wire Jewelry is the only jewelry/beading mag I subscribe to.

Living on a farm leaves me little time for my beloved wire these days. But it's a gratifying life.
