Hello All,

I've been actively beading for just over four years now and have occasionally perused the forums for some time. I'm a graduate student working on a PhD in history, but am finally getting to take some time off to focus on my passion for making beaded jewelry, so it seemed like a good time to become more active on the forums as well! I do a lot with designing jewelry using off-loom beadweaving techniques, as well as some bead embroidery as well. I am just starting a new adventure experimenting with soutache.

Hello, I am new on beadingdaily. My beading name is Kkekk (Kralenkunst Elisabeth Karin Kuperus which means Bead art in Dutch followed by my name).

I used to bead with all kinds of beads, but now I am hooked on seed beads. A few weeks ago I was in Japan and visited a Miyuki retail store in Tokio. Wow! Like a child in a candy store.

Hello from Massachusetts.

My name is Sandra O'Donnell and I love making jewelry. I began making jewelry in 2008 when my daughter strung together some beads to make necklaces. She didn't know how to finish them off, and I didn't either, so I took an introductory class. I made two pairs of earrings during that class and was hooked.

Since then I've studied, created, torn apart, experimented -- and learned a lot. I recently launched a web site for my jewelry, and am looking forward to exchanging ideas with other Beading Daily members to help build success for all of us.

My favorite stitch is Right-Angle Weave (RAW). So many wonderful possibilities with that stitch!

I consider jewelry making my third act. My first career was as a newspaper sportswriter, and my second was as a software engineer specializing in international issues. The first program any engineer writes is one that prints "Hello, world!", so that seems a good way to say hello to this group.

Hi fellow artists. My name is Nicole and I love to design vintage style jewelry. My heart is stuck on beads, and also in a different time. I love the late 1880's through the early 1900's. So many beautiful things were made during that time. I am so impressed with all the beautiful beaders on the web. I am learning and sharing all the time.

I call this one Bleeding Heart. I turned angel wings inward to create a heart, added Czech drops, Austrian crystals and a Swarovski rivoli. .

Hello everyone,

Well I happened to come across this site a little while back and fell in love with it. So I figured I'd actually join up and get all the wonderful community feel that this place has to offer.

I haven't beaded in about 20 years. Even when I had it was just a few simple loom works when I was like 12, lol. It's only been recently that I have really began getting back into it. I've even started branching out into other bead work off the loom. It's been a fun and enlightening experience and I look forward to sharing it here.

I just started my beading renaissance this winter. Normally I go to my cabin in the woods and bead, but my mom is 90 and I am primary caregiver, and now she doesn't want to be left alone. Consequently, it could take me weeks to do a piece of beadwork at the cabin. This winter, I loaded up my beading supplies and brought them to the house, where I have been beading daily.
Recently, my favourite event is going to bead stores. I love seeing what new things have come in, and getting more beads for my stash. As they say, too much is not enough!
I like to work on bracelets because they are a shorter project that lets me try out new ideas - like my current free-form peyote ones. I'd also like to try some bead embroidery.
I have so much to learn and become skilled with! I like BD's free E-Books that you can download. The projects are a great way to learn a new technique. I buy beading magazines and learn from their published projects. I use folders to organise articles and how-to's I have gleaned off the internet. I like to look at beadwork from Etsy. Sometimes I despair when I see gorgeous pieces. I feel I'll never learn that level of skill and artistry. My biggest challenge is coming up with original designs. I want to be able to go to craft shows with my own pieces, as I respect copyrights.
What else? I'm updating my camera equipment so I can take some decent photos of my work, then I can have a blog (I love reading other people's beading blogs!).
My inspirations come mostly from colours and forms and textures found in nature and spiritual things. Well, to me, nature is spiritual. I live in a forest where there is lots of inspiration. You know you're a beading addict when you look at something and think "How can I translate that into beads?" My current piece that I'm working on is a cluster of beaded marsh-marigold flowers. I hope I will be able to post some photos when I am done.

Though I am not really new here, I have not been active for awhile.

Jewelry has always been a love of mine, the bigger the earring the better. About 17 years ago I was introduced to jewelry making and I fell in love!

Recently I decided to pursue increasing the sales of my creations. In the past I have sold my jewelry, but in the more recent years my jewelry has been given as gifts.

Our town is having an annual festival in a few weeks. This will be my first year as a vendor and I am so excited!

Beaded Kumihimo

In our recent move, although my Marudai is present and accounted for, the weighted tama bobbins and my bag of fishing weights have taken a side trip--I expect I WILL find them again, so I don't want to replace them, as they're pricey; I've gerry-rigged an alternative using large nuts and bolts from the hardware store (they're bobbin-shaped!) --they weigh about 2 oz each--I used 50% of that weight for the center counter-weight, but the braid isn't as tight as braids I did with my original set. Looking for advice from any Kumihimo whizzes out there--do I need to increase overall weight for a tighter braid, i.e. heavier bolts and corresponding center weight---does anyone know what the standard weight for the tama-bobbins should be? I was working with size 6 beads and C-lon cord, so the rope is pretty substantial--it''s OK, but floppier than my other braids have turned out...Hoping this community can offer some insight

I am a floral designer and antique dealer that bought a bag of old beads at an antique show and caught the Bead Disease!! I am not even sure I want to get well. I am having so much fun mixing the old with the new but my creations keep falling apart.... I have started to take a few classes but would love to take more. If beading and jewelry making was any more fun it would be illegal!!

years and years ago i got an interest in bead working after buying some assorted Indian glass beads, the little turquoise ones and no two are alike in shape, anyway this is just a few ive found in the basement here. then i had this really cheep loom and made a few hat bands and some odds and ends stuff, wouldent mind starting up again using a better loom or beading tools.

Hi all - My name is Mike. I took up beading about a year and a half ago as something different for a creative outlet. I mostly have designed and made pieces as I have time; I enjoy it (though I've probably spent far too much on tools and beads) and have been having a lot of fun. I haven't really felt the need (or had the time) to take classes, learning pretty much by trial and error (and by watching a lot of YouTube videos!).

I've actually sold a few of my memory wire-based pieces to friends, but would like to branch out to maybe offering some work online, if I can perfect my techniques a bit. I thought it would be great to connect with some of other beaders, both novice and experienced, to and see how they got started and what they're doing, and get some good advice.
