I am trying to photograph my jewelry

Guys,

I am having the hardest time trying to get my photos online....don't know which is best the scanner or my camera.

would you all look at these and tell me what am I doing wrong here! I have tried this without a picture behind the jewelry and with a photo (maybe its the paper I'm using) I have all sorts of scrapbooking pages I can use but I can also be sitting here till the cows come home trying to decide which to use. What do you all think? I need suggestions, because I am about to start posting to etsy and facebook.

This is also where I am have problems with...I have so much jewelry to post this is going to take some time...I would rather be making jewelry than posting jewelry, LOL

this one looks sooooo close and distorted ....scanned image, but I think the scanner takes better pics though.

Hi. Could anyone tell me what is the bracelet pictured in the May 5th newsletter? It is next to the blurb about Jean Campbell. I think it's cute and would like to know what book it's from/where to find more info, and see perhaps if it's possible to make it without the round beads. Also, I like that clasp, so I'm wondering where I might find it.

After my LOADING symbol spun and spun and spun, I got this message:

Either the site is offline or an unhandled error occurred. We apologize and

your site administrator is let them know too.

I was able to look at posts on the Forum, but when I tried this blog -- again I was

given this message.

Anyone else having problems with it????

Do you offer free beading patterns of your own original design on your blog or website? We have a new way for you to drive traffic to your blog or website and promote your free beading patterns!

Check out our new Member Free Beading Projects gallery! All you have to do is upload a photo of your free beading project and a link to where it can be found on your blog or website.

A couple of guidelines: at this time, we're asking you to upload content that is your own, original work. Please don't upload someone else's project or pattern - but you can let them know about the gallery and suggest that they upload their own photos and links to the gallery.

We're also asking that you upload only free beading projects and patterns. Please don't post links to beading patterns and projects that you have for sale in your Etsy or Artfire shop. (If you have a website that offers both free and paid patterns, please feel free to post links to the free patterns!)

We'll be promoting the beading projects and patterns on our blog, in our Week In Review newsletter, and on Facebook and Twitter.

Things I learned doing the Beading Daily Earrings Every Day Challenge 2012

1) I hate french hook ear wires. The stick out and poke my head behind my ears and really REALLY bug me.

2) I do like lever back ear wires. All the dangle of french hooks, none of the pokiness!

3) You CAN make beadwoven post earrings that don't dangle!

4) My photo setup sucks. Taking pictures EVERY DAY really highlighted just how crappy and inconsistant my lighting is. I will be investing in a better light box and lights.

5) Forcing yourself to create something everyday is a great way to create hate. While I never made a lot of earrings before this, I currently don't want to ever make another earring EVER.

I have come to realize that creativity can't be forced. While there were days when I loved what I came up with, there were more days where I just made something for the sake of making something. I am not ok with that. I think I would rather have days where I take a day off, do something else, build up ideas. Or, a day where I worked on something I was actually inspired by! There have been several days where I had another project but set it aside, cause I HAD to make earrings.

So, while this was an interesting experience, it is not one that I will be repeating. I will stick with challenges that allow a little more leaway in what is created and on what schedule.

Earrings Every Day Challenge

I seem to be unable to upload a photo of the earrings I made today for the January challenge. I've tried to upload from both my own computer as well as from my online photo storage. The photos are smaller than the maximum allowed by Beading Daily, so size is not the problem. I've been able to upload from my computer to my online photo storage, so my computer doesn't seem to be the problem. Can anyone help me to understand why my photos aren't going to Beading Daily? (I'm following all the instructions and using my Beading Daily account to create the post.) Many thanks!

Project Accessory Challenge: Week 1: Found Objects

Some of us around here at Interweave were so excited by the new Project Accessory on Lifetime that we decided to do a Bead Along Challenge here on Beading Daily, and a Make Along Challenge over on Jewelry Making Daily! Are you up for the challenge?

If you missed the first episode of Project Accessory, you can watch it for free on Lifetime's website. I won't tell you who the winner was, but I will tell you what the challenge is for this week!

This week, we're using found objects in our beadwork! Anything goes - rummage through your utility drawers, your garage workshops, your attics, your scary basements... Fill a box with "junk" and then go through it and find what inspires you.

Tear, cut, drill, paint and then - of course - BEAD! Use anything you want to create a piece of beaded jewelry with the items you find. And don't be afraid to go over-the-top - make it runway-worthy!

When you're done, post a photo of your found object beaded jewelry in the Reader Gallery using the tag PABAL. (Note: you MUST use the tag PABAL in order for your piece to show up in the Project Accessory Bead Along Gallery!)

Let's see what you can come up with! Need more inspiration? Take a look at some of the steampunk projects in the Beading Daily and Jewelry Making Daily online shops!

I just received an email from a new beader asking me about this tutorial. It states that it is done in Circular Peyote and even shows a Circular Peyote graph at the end as a guide. This is obviously done in TUBULAR PEYOTE. Can anyone help on this problem? Thank you, marilyn

Just wondering

I was just wondering, how many of the charter members are still coming here daily? I have notice a huge decline since the problem BD had with all the spam. I really hate to say it, but I think we have lost a majority of the original members. Jeni, Billy, Pam, and Darma, just to list a few. Even Cat from Ohio is seldom seen here anymore. Hey, guys come back or tell me where you have gone. I miss you all.

Does anyone know where they have gone? They always had such good information to share. I don't believe they have just lost interest in Beading and jewelry making, I think they lost interest in BD. I also am looking for new venue to hang out at. I just miss the great friends I made here.

I had such a good time participating in the Mirrix Looms Weave Along that I decided to do a Bead Along here on Beading Daily, and I chose one of my all-time favorite projects: Linda Richmond's Net Full of Gems necklace.

You can download the instructions for this necklace for free - read all about the Bead Along on the Beading Daily blog under Beading Instructions, and we'll use this thread in the forums to share our experiences and our materials, post questions and show off our finished pieces.

Ideas for Future Bead Alongs on Beading Daily

How about a large medallion of some sort? These examples all have free online tutorials, but not in English. At any rate they're examples of what I have in mind. The Spanish would be fairly easy to translate, but not the Hungarian!

How do we change our magazine subscriptions from paper to electronic?. I've been thinking about it and decided to try it. And now I have no clue how to do so. I'm asking here because I know that others are considering as well, and it seems silly for all of us to write to customer service.

Interweave Web Site

Hello all,

I'm not sure this is the right forum but I'm really hoping that someone can help me!

I ordered some books from Interweave several weeks ago (their HURT sale that was pretty awesome) and I thought that I would have gotten the books before I moved. I moved last week, and still haven't gotten the books though. I did make sure to put in a change of address through the USPS and other places I order from.

My books haven't arrived yet though, and so I tried to track them on the Interweave website. Only it would not let me, the USPS site says that my tracking number is wrong (I'm thinking a typo in the number I was given maybe?). SO, I tried to send the Interweave customer service a message - on their 'contact us' service to see if they could track the package. The website wouldn't let me send the message though, it kept telling me that I was giving an invalid email address (I tried both of my email address several times).

I think that I may have been cursed with bad luck with the USPS lately, lol, they accidentally nearly shredded a check sent to the utility company last month!

My phone service is nearly nonexistent in my new neighborhood and I have no idea how to contact Interweave now... any suggestions?
