Yes, I realized that, when I was in DC with my aunt. My aunt lives close to Potomac River and the humidity there is very high. And due to that you couldn't open the front door. The wood the house was built of warped.

Many public buildings and shops in Europe already have A/C, but in most private houses you don't need it (and can't afford it due to energy cost). The houses in Germany are very good isolated and keep the temperature low in summer. In Southern Europe older houses often have thick walls and small windows to keep the heat outside. And very often there are no carpets, only tiles to keep everything cool.

In the south (Italy, Spain, southern France) a great many of the buildings were built hundreds of years ago, and they planned them with the heat in mind so they stay cooler (and still do). Doesn't mean they're cold, but it's better than being outside at any rate.

No, we don't. Yesterday a customer asked if we have a hotel with A/C in town. *ROFL* I have to say that this is only a small town, so in the big cities the hotels maybe have A/C.

It's stopped raining and the sun is out, but there is still some cloud cover in patches, so it isn't underworldly, but it could always be 75 with 33 1/3% humidity, ya know. *laughz* I'm not going to complain because it can always be worse.

We don't get much heat relief until early-mid September in most cases. It stays in the mid-high70's in the day and high 50's low 60's at night until close Halloween, then it cools off pretty good. You have to remember that we only get about 6-8 weeks of cold weather and it's usually a few days here and there with warmups in between, so I'm putting up with the heat to avoid the cold, ya know. *laughz*

I'd like to head north up next Pam for a visit before my time comes, but I'd have to do it this time of year. in the winter, I'd freeze up and turn blue. My heavy coat is a denim jacket for Pete's sake. *laughz* I've seen so many pics of the area and it is beautiful, not to mention that meeting up with beady friends just sounds like a blast. I'd like to go to California, Colorado, Arizona, New Mexico, and Alaska too, but I don't really see any of them happening. I simply can't drive that far and I can't afford to fly, so there ya go. *laughz* I can still dream though can't I?
