I agree with Maria.

You can mention in your listing that the piece is made with silver plated wire but could be done in SS if preferred.

I use plated metals all the time. Only sometimes I may use a handmade & handforged earwires as they offer unique shape.

Use silver plate ,it is cost effective. My clients who want 9.25 silver will ask for piece in real silver and will wait for piece to get done.

I just posted to another forum discussing how expensive it is the use sterling/gold. I just finished a wire wrapped piece in silver wire, but not sterling. I wasn't sure if it would work, but it looks great. I try to sell one-of-a-kind pieces to people who would appreciate them, but wouldn't, or couldn't, pay $90-100 or more for one piece. I can't use precious metals as a rule. Maybe ONE special charm or focal, but not as the metal in an entire piece of work. I always tell people that the findings, etc are silver plated or other metal. If it looks nice and is well made, no one minds, even people I know who only use sterling and gold. And they don't exclusively use precious metals either!

Maybe we should invest in silver and use the other metals for jewelry! LOL

Sure just be sure to disclose that information when you sell them. Don't try to pass them off as sterling, that's all.

I have been making some ss bracelets.......... the rings cost so much. I can't sell them.. they would be too expensive. Can I use Non tarnish silver plate instead?
