aside from fire mountain, i also use beyond beadery in colorado (beyondbeadery.com). betsey has a most amazing collection/selection of beads.
i bought a book a couple years ago on crystal jewelry, and took it into my mind to buy every bead (had just about all the crystals) that all the patterns called for. betsey had every one of them! i bought them all, plus quite a few more that caught my eye as i wandered around the site (my credit card hollered at me big time, but it was worth it, not because each tube was expensive, not at all; her prices are very reasonable. it hollered because that was the largest order i had ever made, anywhere, up to that point. i have since outdone myself a few other places- mostly bead shows!)
i had a few challenges, but betsey settled them all when i called her. she is wonderful!
one word of caution: you may get lost on the site, simply because there's so much to look at, not because it's hard to navigate; it's very easy. just make sure that you have paper and pencil to take notes so that you don't have to keep on hitting the Back key.
i wish you well with your bead shopping; have fun making all the beautiful things that you have in mind, now and in the future. take care and God bless.
Some of my faves:
I have used Panda Hall. They are great for base metals and glass beads. Also acrylic if you use them. Their seed beads are bad.... very uneven. Gemstones are hit and miss. The shipping is high because they ship from China. It gets better if you order in bulk.... shipping per KG goes down.
Hope this helps!
I've ordered from Firemountain, Bellomodo, JewelrySupply with excellent results. I am looking forward to ordering from those others that have been mentioned,as I am getting into seed beads now and will prob be placing an order this week. I LOVE these forums and all the great information you all have!
Again, I am SO glad I found you!
I find that online is THE best place to buy beads, findings, etc.
my faves are:
wonderful selection of seed beads and FREE SHIPPING!
And ofcourse ETSY! If you go to the search bar and use the drop down button and go to supplies, then type in what your looking for and something ALWAYS pops up! :)
Wow ! This is a FABULOUS source thread ! There are online shops here I've never heard of ! Lots of places to check out and give a try. I've done most of my shopping at FM and Artbeads.
