Protective coating for Rivolis & dyed beads

A while back there were a couple different discussions about how to protect both Swarovski rivolis and dyed seed beads.  I was reading the Q&A in yesterday's Fire Mountain email, and both those questions were asked.  The product they recommended for both is DesignaSeal clear gloss.  They say it's non-toxic so it shouldn't irritate skin, and gives a durable finish.  It's only $5.58 at the 15-49 item bracket.

Just thought I'd mention it in case anyone wants to try it.

Thanks for the tip! The only thing I've ever used is acrylic floorwax -- I take it this product des a better job?

     Hey Jeni,

Did they mention if it can be used on Polymere Clay?  I know most of the glosses will leave the beads tacky unless they are waterbased.  I'd love to find something that would put a heavy/thick coat of gloss on polymere.

    Here's what the description says:

"DesignaSeal makes a wonderful glossy top coat that designers put on their hand-painted beads, Kato Polyclay™ beads, and over their finished leaf sheet designs. Top coat can also be used as a fixative for dyed beads."

I haven't used it so can't testify to the results, but I may get some with my next order to try it out.  Worst case is I don't like it and won't buy it again.

Don't forget to let us know, either way.

I was just thinking about this the other day when I noticed that the foil on my bezeled rivoli is coming off at the very point. For a quick fix, I just put on some clear nail polish... it did the job. I'm thinking about doing that on all of my future bezels, but maybe I'll try this stuff!
