Hey, I'm back!!

Here's one of my newest pieces. I'm so lucky to found this labradorite pendant bead. Finally i got an idea what to do with it!!

Argentium silver and Copper combo! Very feminin design i think. I love it :D

Front. Flashy flashy flashy!

Labradorite is hard to photograph, especially since i also wanted to show the goldish sheen on my paper! XD

Back side.

On the neck.

I hope you like it too :D

Stunning! That labradorite is incredible, and your wire work is awesome as always. I love the mixed metal combo--I've been doing that a lot myself these days.

I have to admit...I SO admire your work!!!  This is really incredible!  Your wirework is pristine, well designed, funky, interesting and yet very dainty.  I absolutely LOVE it!  How long have you been doing wirework and do you have any tips for someone who is working up her skills?  I am completely self-taught and really haven't picked up books on it 'cause I don't learn as well from reading as I do doing...so...did you take classes or are you also self-taught?  I mean this piece is really awesome...I just hope that I can get to that level of work someday!!!!

i'm also self taught as i didn't have any other choice. no wire working / metalsmithing classes here. none that i know of at least. i tried my own and purchased several Iza Malczyk's tutorials that were offered as a bundle as a start. I've been working with wire for about a year now. Just started this in summer 2008. the books i had (bought years ago) were about simple stringing. i used to do simple stringing back then and bought books cos i didn't know we could browse for designs online (didn't really have internet too back then). haha.. simple stringing isn't as easy as it looks. but i think wire working comes more naturally for me. always got new ideas from regular things i see. not the same case with simple stringing.

i always try to eyeball advanced wire techniques i see online. if i'm stumped and really want to learn the techniques then i might buy the tutorial. but exploring techniques by my own is the most fun part. i feel accomplished if i figured it out myself!

i learned using cheap wire and after i felt more confident with my skill, i started working with silver :) i keep a note book near to make notes about new designs, wire length and such for future reference.

Kay is just a natural talent, that's all there is to it!  That is a gorgeous pendant.  I've never seen Labradorite with so many different colors like that-simply stunning.  The wirework is just the icing.  Is there a smiley with diamonds for eyes somewhere??

Man, I'd give a limb for just a bit of your imagination. Yet another sweet project. I'm kind of partial to blues as well as the earthy tones and that stone has both. The copper is a cool accent as well and brings out the yellows, golds and browns in the upper part of the stone. I'm not sure if that was intentional, but it really brings the piece together as a whole. 2 thumbs WAY up! *grinz*

All I can say is WOW!!!  I love the stone, the unique wrap, the two different metals used, the design.  I just LOVE laboradorite as well.  I get lost in its 3D effect.
