Who would'a thunk!  Is that the original color of the cocoon bead?  I'm more intriqued by the silver swirl beads.  Did you make those?  Great piece.  jeannie

the green silk cocoon is dyed. but i bought it dyed like that already. i have green, blue, and red. they're colorfast too. i already put this one on water to test it out! no color bleed :)

the silver cocoon is the bead i made myself. i have it on sale on my supply shop. i also have a tutorial of it finished but not published yet because i still have to finish the second part "how to make beaded cocoon beads" :D

What a fun idea! Kay, this really does look like a jellyfish, and I LOVE it! I never would have thought of something like this. It might be a fun way to use some paper beads too....

We've had good times so far. He's such a cutie and a sweetheart. Always love it when we can be together. gonna enjoy every minute of it! :D

What a fascinating piece, especially when you know what's in it!  I had no idea you could buy real cocoons.  Great job Kay!  I'll be looking forward to your next tutorial too...

i was on the dark on where to buy real cocoons too until one day i search for "cocoon beads" to see if my items show up on search on etsy and i saw them on sale! lol. i saw on TV, local people made neat accessories out of silk cocoons. they cut them and made flowers and the like out of them. so creative!

btw these cocoons still have the silk threads on them so it's pretty fascinating too :D
