    Hello from France

    Hello everybody,

My name is Radegunde, I am German but actually living in France, so please pardon any mistakes you might encounter in my written english. It has been a long time since I learned it in school!!

I love creating things by myself from A to Z: To knit a pullover, first I raise some woolly animals, then spin the wool, then knit. (It seems to me, there is a sister site to this one, called "knittingdaily", is it not?) Recently I have come across viking knit, which has rapidly become my new passion. I only regret that I can't extract the silver ore by myselfBig Smile to do it right from the beginning.

Beads were my passion in my long ago youth, but looking at all these gorgeous creations on this site, the passion certainly is being rekindled.

Anyway, I am very happy to have found this site and to meet other "do-it-yourselfers".

    Radegunde

     Hello and welcome!

I am new to this site too, but everyone is nice. I used to live in France just outside of Paris, but it has been many years.

    Welcome to the forums Radegunde!

I like to knit too, but I wouldn't raise the sheep (wooly animals) first!  Yes, Interweave has a Knitting Daily too.

If you want to rekindle your interest in beads you certainly found the right place in Beading Daily, and we're happy to meet you too.

    Radegunde:

Wilkommen, bienvenue, welcome, come on in!*

As I am sure you will find, the BD forums are a great place to hang out, get help, give advice, and meet lots and lots of wonderful people.

As I'm sure others have (and will say), just join any conversation that seems interesting to you.  We often stray way off topic, and when we've got non-beading things to say or ask, we open up threads in the Off-Topic section.  If you're shy, feel free to lurk - but we'd much rather hear from you.

     Radegunde,

Welcome to the site.  You will enjoy many of the creations and friendship on this website.  We all tend to be creative souls.  Although, I must say, that I have never grown sheep or spun my own wool to knit something.  I usually buy my yarn from the local craft store.  I am currently working on a baby blanket for my expected granddaughter.  She will be arriving in mid-July.

Well, thank you all very much for this warm welcome!

Just a little rectification: I am not raising sheep  (not yet!), but Angora-Rabbits.

I used to own an Angora-cat too and everytime she recognized this funny wool-appreciating look in my eyes, she went off hiding behind the piano. (She died last year of cancer and I swear, I never ever actually took her wool - I always managed to resist to the temptation in time Angel)

    Hallo Radegunde,

    willkommen auf Beadingdaily!

I switch to English now, so everyone can read. I'm also from Germany and glad to find another one from my country or at least Europe here. Nice to meet you and I hope you enjoy being here. This is a very friendly community!

I am mostly a beadweaver at them moment, but am knitting socks for my new niece. I also do ther crafts like sewing, quilting, painting, embroidery and so on. In Januar 2010 I'll teach a class about Viking Knit. That will be fun!

OK, I have to admit I thought about taking the wool from my angora cat (only the hair from combing her) and felting a mouse for her and her sister to play, but never made it. She tends to eat her own hair and her stomach doesn't like that very much. And eating the amount of hair in a felted mouse.......know what I mean? Funny meeting another one looking at her cat with that "look"! But my cat hides under the bed. Wink

    Re: Hello from France

Radegunde and Dagi!!!!  I've done it too!  Not with a cat, but my dog, Buster (he died of cancer several years ago) had the most gorgeous, long, thick fluffy black fur and when he misbehaved I'd tell him if he didn't straighten out I'd turn him into a hat!!!  No, I never did do it, though I do wish I had some of his fur now.

I have done some spinning but never raised the sheep!  If I wanted some wool though, it's just down the road walking around in the pastures down there on the backs of sheep and alpacas.

Wow, I'm getting ideas for a really nice hat and/or scarf with a beaded edge this winter...

I tell my cat that I'd turn her into a nice handbag if she'd go on misbehaving. She always looks at me like saying: "Oh, you won't do that! I know you too well!" *laughz*

Bienvenue/wilkommen/ciao Radegunde!  Nice to have you here.  My mom used to raise angora rabbits when I was little, and she spun the wool for yarn also.  She also put them in local fairs for show, and won a few ribbons for it.  I always used to love how soft they were!
