What is the purpose of adding someone as a friend on the Contact pull-down menu?  Some of us are interested in finding a way to easily find new posts of members we have made friends with.  Not sure if maybe adding someone as a friend would help with this, but it is unclear what the purpose of this link is.

Will someone at the BD please clarify this for us?  Thanks!

Good question.  It looks like if you add someone as a friend via the contact menu, it will open up an email box for you to email them.  (You need to approve any friend requests.)  I think it's there so you don't have to go through your profile to add people as friends, but can do it as you're reading their posts.  Once someone is a friend, you can click on their friend icon inside your profile and do a search for any of their posts.  That is in theory.  I have not had any luck getting the search to work!  We are due for an upgrade on the forum software.  Hopefully this is something that will work better in that version!

Thank you, Michelle.  I'll give it a try with a few folks and will see what happens.

Where is the contact menu?  I'm confused about this and about adding friends which I've been trying to do.  I have Lois in there as a friend and it wasn't hard but now I can't remember what I did to get her there except emailing her.

And thank you Michelle for the work being done to improve the forum pages, it's appreciated, lots!

Pam on every post at the top it says, REPLY, FAVORITES, CONTACT. If you click contact a drop down menu appears where you have options to send an email, add someone as a friend and a few other things I can't remember off the top of my head.

I tried to do the friend thing once too but all it does is open up an email box so I wasn't quite sure what I was supposed to do. You would think it would automatically send a request to connect as a friend to the person but it doesn't. Maybe I'll try it tonight and see if I can figure it out.

Pam:
Where is the contact menu?

Pam: look in the upper right corner of this post, and you will see the word "Contact"; if you click on it, will get the "Contact menu".

I had some friends added to mine a while back but now I can't access my profile page (or other pages) anymore.  It just gives me an error message: "resource not found: the page does not exist" or something like that.  It does that to me when I try to look at the daily blogs, gallery, project library, etc.  The only way I can see them is to log out, but then I can't post or comment.  Oh well...

Jeni, have you brought this to the attention of the folks at the BD?  I would do that if I were you, and have their IT person look into it.  You are missing out on benefits of being a BD member, and I'm sure they'd fix it for you if you bring it to their attention.

Sherri I tried this friend stuff last night.

I went to one of Pam's post and clicked on the drop down menu to add as a friend. Then I went to her bio page and down there it said accept pending friendship from Pam. I don't know if Pam had put a request in for me or not before, but I clicked on it and it added Pam to my list.

I sent a request last night for you too and when I go to your bio page all it is showing is Cancel pending friendship request. I don't know if you now need to go to my bio and see if it says accept or not but that's how it worked with Pam I think. This stuff is weird and I am glad you asked this questioned cause I have pondered it myself many times.

You're right, Cat.  Folks have to go to their bio page and look at their friends list in the lower right hand corner of the page.  I looked at each of the links and accepted all those who wanted to add me as a friend, which I did.

I added several myself, and I'm hoping those folks will go to their bio page and accept my request.

As far as searching for my friends' posts, it appears the only way to do that is to go to any of my friend's bio page and look at the threads listed at the bottom.

Pam, you'd better go to your "Requests to Review" link and accept the folks who want to list you as their friends!  Those that I accepted are now listed under my friends, but there are only three there so far.

Well Sherri ... you are my first official Beading Daily Friend & thank you for putting in that request.

I'm glad someone put this post up because I couldn't figure out this Friend thing for the life of me... now if only I could figure out the the WALL is for... Would someone please shed some light on that for me?
