what are your favorites?

Ok, so now we are all sitting around anxiously waiting to find out who will win Bead Star this year. To pass the time and do a little speculating, I thought it would be fun to find out what entries were everyones favorites. No fair listing your own entry, though!

I love #8 in stones and #13 in hearts. The glass category is so hot I can't choose a favorite. I love about 5 of them equally.

Does anyone want to venture a guess for best in show this year?

I think it will be really hard to pick best in show this year.  All the entries are fabulous!

 Do you know when the finalists hear the results, this is my first contests and I was not sure if they would let winners and non winners know the results or if we just wait and if we hear nothing then that is it.

I loved a lot of the work in the glass category too I was trying to decide if is the designs or the materials I like best about the work. There is amazing work in all the categories. And I know for one I am thrilled to have just made it as a finalist.

The whole contest has pushed me to think in new directions and contemplate working with materials I would never have thought of working with the whole event has been very inspiring and I am so happy to have found this forum and all the other amazing artist on it.

I believe we will be notified via email if we are winners on June 15th.

I went through that same thought process last year--it was my first contest, and I had never tried to work within those guidelines before. I honestly couldn't think of any ideas at all for some of the categories, and was curious to see what other people would do with a design that had to be predominantly one material. I feel like the process makes you think outside the box and move out of your comfort zone to get more creative.

What you said is so true! It is great to have found this forum and this web sight! I just stumbled on to it when I Goggled “contest” I had some of the magazines from interweave, I have had students bring them to me when they have seen something I have made that reminded them of a project. I have found my self focused on searching though the ads for potential suppliers and looking at some of the projects thinking this is great for visual learners like my self the photos are almost extensive enough to make the pieces with out even reading.

 when my copy of last years bead star arrived I was just blown a way it was just stunning to look at, what a great vehicle for not only the artist but also for the sponsors the whole thing opened my mind and eyes in ways that I would not have expected I walked in to Joann’s and bought five different magazines I am already thinking about next year!!! You have to excuse me I live in the back end of no ware and I don’t get out much and it is all very inspirational!

Feels like my head is going to explode from all the stuff I want to do!

I can't remember the number, but I like the necklace in metals that had amethyst and a bunch of silver squiggly things in it.  I also liked the #3 necklace in seed beads, which -ahem- just happens to be one of Erin's designs.  I liked more than just those 2, but they really stood out to me.
