I am a little disappointed that I was not notified that my entry was eliminated.  I'm new to all of this and had no idea that the onus was on me to check results.  I was under the impression that the entrants would be kept abreast of the ongoing results.

I felt I should have at the very least been notified of my elimination, since I put much effort into participating.  I felt as some of the entrants, that my chances of winning were slight.

I just happened to be searching for some sort of update, and low and behold, I was surprised to find that my entry was eliminated.  I don't mean to sound like a sore loser, I'm not, but I certainly would have appreciated a notification of elimination.

I am confused - what is onus?  a person who checks results?  Did they put someone in your place?  How would you check your own results?

Wow - I am sorry that happened.   Give us an update

If it's any consolation, the finalist were not notified either. All the entrants had to go through the voting process to discover if they were a finalist.

I also found this forum because I was looking for a contact email. I was concerned that a confirmation email was not sent to me after I had sumitted my entries. This is a wonderful website with lots of information and great people. However, their one weakness seems to be comunication. I would suggest automated response to email receipt, contact page with list of department/magazines/contest emails, and a FAQ page to reduce repetitive questions.

Katie- "onus" is an unpleasant chore or responsibility.

S2- I hope this helps and you return often to this forum.

S2,

I'm confused too--do you mean your entry did not make it in to the finals and you weren't notified, or do you mean your entry DID make it into the finals and you were disqualified and removed after the fact?

Can you please clarify?

I am not sure either if you were eliminated later or you just didn't make it to the finalists.

I actually like that you are not notified you are a finalist.  It is kind of exciting to open up when you start voting and their is your piece.  If it's not their of course you didn't get in and your a little disappointed but then you get to look at all the beautiful pieces that did get in.  You usually get an email when you submit your piece.

Also, consider what a daunting task it would be to notify nearly 2000 people that their entry was not selected to be a finalist.

I understand completely how you feel, believe me.  For this contest, the logistics of contacting over 2700 people in such a short time frame was not realistic. Now that the actual voting has ended and we have our 45 winners, notification will be forthcoming to everyone of their status sometime around the June 15th date originally posted.

I will however keep your comment in mind so we can try to find a solution next year that will expedite notification.

And sorry, no, I can't let any beady-eyed cats of their beaded bags about the winners!

Best regards and thank you for your participation!
