Hi,

i recently took a beginner's Kumihimo class in which we made a bracelet.  I would like to make some necklaces using more than one size bead.

Can anyone give me some direction for determining the length of thread.

Thank you,

The general rule is 3 times the needed length.  example: my necklace will be 18 inches finished. So I will start with each of my cords being 54 inches. So if you are doing an 8 cord design you will need 36 feet of cord in all.

Some people like to add a little extra just for insurance, but I have never run out of thread before I got to my desired length.

There may be different ways to calculate the amount needed, but as I said I have never been short of cord, infact I usually end up with more than I need.

Happy Beading!!
