And it's nice to be here. I'm a 38 brand new beader who has watched many youtube demos and decided to give it a go. After ordering lots of shiny things via ebay over the past week, I was all set to work on my first peyote chain when I realised I had ordered fishing line rather than fire line... Oops
i tried in vain to get it to work but with small beads and thick (ish) fishing line it just wasn't working, the tension was terrible and it was less a neat column more of a beaded splodge! So have ordered the proper stuff and now have to wait a couple more days to see if beading and peyote stitch are for me ha ha ha
oh well, back to my kumihimo for a couple of hours
Welcome. Don't despair. Although the fishing line won't hold up well, you can still use it for practice. I use garbage string to try to learn new things, or on prototype pieces, both of which I know I'm going to be cutting apart at some point anyway. If I like the piece, I remake it with 'real' string and then can work out any issues I may have encountered, and all I've lost is the useless string.
Hope we get to see some of your work. Even beginning pieces are important and we love to see it all.
hi James and welcome to the forum.
I am sure that you are going to have a lot of fun with your beading and with practise you will become perfect and we all learn with our mistakes.
There are lots of established beaders on here that will point you in the right direction.
I look forward to seeing some of your work
