Last year I borrowed a new book from our local library which featured pictures of work by a US artist who uses vintage beads, pendants and collectible carved pieces to make beautiful woven collars. Her work is featured in many museums and collections. Unfortunately I can't remember the name of the book or the name of the artist. I realise that this is probably a very stupid request but if there is anyone who might have an idea of the name of this book, I would appreciate it. I have tried to find the book through the library catalogue with no success at all.
Jane, the first two names that pop into my mind are Sherry Serafini and Heidi Kummli. Both are very well known jewelry artists, both use unique items (maybe moreso Heidi Kummli) in their art and both have items in museums.
This is not a stupid request, there are about a gazillion books out there but those two authors were the ones that seem, to me, to fit your information the best. If the book from your library was really new it could have been Heidi Kummli's book "The Spirit of Bead Embroidery".
If these are not right, holler again and maybe I can dig up more. Donna
D.M.Z: Sherry Serafini and Heidi Kummli.
Those were the same two names that I immediately thought of also. I have a book by each of them in my own collection. And I love the work that they each do.
But like Donna said there are a gazillion books and authors and artists. So, if we're wrong just give shout out again and maybe we can come up with some more names.
