I've been told that some people are having difficulty finding the exact glass beads for the Four Corners bracelet I made for the Nov/Dec 2008 issue of Step by Step Beads. So sorry about that! Here are some tips for finding alternatives:
* Look for "diagonally drilled", "corner drilled" or "diamond shaped" square or diamond beads.
* Beads should be flat, not cubes.
* Beads need to be drilled at the corners in order to work the pattern.
* Common materials for this type of shape are gemstones, shell, and pearls. Some glass, but not as much.
* Watch the bead size -- 10-12mm or so

I just love this bracelet and would love to make it! I can't find these beads anywhere! Totally bummed. I did order the toggle just in case I do happen to find the beads some day.

The beads for the "alternate" version pictured in the magazine I bought at Hobby Lobby, so you might find beads you like at the craft stores, in addition to searching your local bead shops.
Well, now I'm intrigued. I've done a search for the Four Corners Bracelet, but I can't find it. Is it online or in the magazine?

Where did you find the beads?
The pattern can be purchased on the Interweave website under projects / bracelets. Patterns are listed in alphabetical order by bracelet name.
Item Number: EP1382 -- or you can select the designer's name under the button for Author under "Refine Your Search."
The other way I made a curl (coil) at the end of the wire and placed it at the end of the handle, placed beads on the wire and cut the wire a little longer than the handle of the coffee scoop I was working on curled that end as well and bent it down into the dip of the scoop. After that I took a second peice of wire and wrapped aroun the handle going between each bead. I gave these for Christmas presents last year (2008) and they are holding up very well. I have even placed them in the dishwasher. I have more comments on my coffee scoops and wisks than much anything else I do. Relax and just have fun!

Step by Step Beads was a magazine that ran from its premiere issue in 2002 to its final issue in January/February 2010. It was initially published by Lapidary Journal's Primedia Inc. Then Beadwork's Interweave took over at the end of 2006. Interweave also published a "Best of Step by Step Beads" in 2010 with about 40 of the previous published patterns. The Four Corner's Bracelet was NOT in the 2010 publication.
