I have been searching quite a bit in an attempt to buy a Bead Buddy Dual Lap Desk. I even went to their web site but it appears you can't actually buy directly from them. Firemountain is sold out. I found a couple but they were outrageously priced, far more than Firemountain's price. Does anybody know where I can find one at a reasonable price? Thanks so much!!!
I don't know if you checked here or not www.jewelrysupply.com/ but they are less than Firemountain

Hi! I just bought one this morning at: http://www.fdjtool.com/
Hold on for the price, even cheaper than FMG: $24.95! Of course, there will be shipping costs if you require that, but for anyone who comes to visit Orlando, Winter Park is very close by. This place is right off of 17-92, a major road that goes from Daytona Beach to Tampa, if memory serves.
I went to FDJ personally, tell them "that paralyzed lady" sent you! The complete name of the business is FDJ On Time, "Your Stocking Jewelry Tool Supplier." The people were all very nice. They don't sell beads, but boy oh boy, do they have a complete stock of display items, tools, wire, supplies for kumihimo, books, those nice little drawstring pouches for gift-giving, anything related to a jewelry business.
I also got a beading mat, Eurotool pliers, and a BeadSmith Thread Zap II thread burner. It was $9.95, good deal. If I go out anywhere to bead I'll carry that one with me and leave my better one at home. I should have thought to get a couple of replacement tips, I'll just get them next time.
No, I'm not related in any way, shape or form to this place, but the service was great and friendly, the selection terrific, and YAY, I got my Bead Buddy Dual Lap Desk! I want to take my old one (have had it for so many years already!) when I go out, or the hospital or wherever, and use the new one at home. I usually bead in bed, I use a wedge pillow with a cervical pillow on top of that. I put the BB Dual Lap Desk on my tummy.get it to the correct angle so I can see the beads, and it's happy beading time! I'm elevated to about a 20 degree angle, for any of you folks with similar problems (I'm an Incomplete Paraplegic, so sitting isn't great for me.) When I find the moron who said: "You're not getting older, you're getting BETTER!" I'm going to run him over either with a Mack Truck or a Diesel Train! (for those too young to remember, that's a line from an old Lady Clairol ad, probably about 30 years ago.)
I hope this helps! Have a blessed day, folks!
p.s. Note to folks in wheelchairs or scooters, who use walkers, or have any other mobility issue. Call them when you get there, they'll go around to the back to let you in. There's a VERY high step to get into the store!
Thanks for the reply!!! I found it at FDJ on Friday so my son bought it for me as a birthday present .. it should be here by Wednesday! You're right about the price. By far the cheapest I've seen. Firemountain wanted $35 or $40 (I forgot which) if you were only buying one and others asked as high as $50 so the $25 was a bargain. I bookmarked them for other supplies as the prices looked pretty good to me.
Happy Birthday to you! (be glad you can't hear me singing, LOL! ;-)
To everyone looking for the Bead Buddy Dual Lap Desk, before I had been on this forum I wrote directly to the company, and got this response from them today:
"This item is no longer in production.
I loved the Web site, and Prices. I almost fainted when I saw the "Eco Friendly Shipping Cost"(Cheapest way to ship. I live in New Mexico. A $2.95 cost for Thread Zapper Tips would cost $11.95 in Shipping.
I live in the USA , so was shocked at the Shipping cost.. They must not ship out of the USA.
Maybe my tax person could write off the trip to Florida as Business expense and I could stock up.LOL.
Ps. Humm, I often catch my reflection in the Morning, and look to my "Dream Journal" < just to see if there is a License Plate Number for the Mack Truck that left those Dark Tire Marks under my eyes.
Well, we are all out of luck now. I just went back to their site to order another one and now they are out of stock as well.
Did you find you Bead Buddy Dual Lap Desk? I just got some in my shop www.beadgirlonline.com go to Supplies
