Okay, the moderator in me is coming out now. *laughz* No offence intended, but you could have put all of the links into one post. You didn't have to make a seperate post for each piece.

That being said, they are beautiful pieces, each and every one. I'm slowly getting the hang of the peyote stitching, so maybe I can make some decent pieces soon. Don't worry, I won't be any competition for awhile, if ever. *laughz* Good work though, really good.

     Hmmm...

    not really!

I've been meaning to take photos to post for a while, but have never got around to it!

But the comments I received on some of the items has given me back my enthusiasm for beading (although i still have a stack of cross stitches to do for Christmas - that i started when I got a bit bored with beading - only problem is now Im sick of the cross stitches I've been doing!) - I am going to try making some sculpey beads this weekend!

    Thank you for your comments!

I get stuck on x-stitch very easily.  I used to test-stitch the patterns my mom makes (not for the faint-hearted), and now I get burned out in a hurry, even if I was enthusiastic to begin with.

Post some pics of the Sculpey beads you make-I'd like to see what you come up with.

I don't often make designs from magazines but  I loved this project (it's by Dulcey Heller, btw) so much that I made it in lots of different versions, including a teeny tiny one in size 15's that went on a bracelet, and a huge one in plastic pony beads on Stretch Magic to use as a demonstration piece at craft fairs. It's such a neat bit of engineering and the beadwork has the exact look and feel of a real starfish!

    Hi there!

I love your starfish!  Great color, great shape.  I love how they grow personalities all their own.  Thanks for posting it.

I like making these in 15s, myself -- but frustrating to do (as a passenger!) in a moving car with 15s.  :)  Big ponys, I'll have to try that!  Did the stretch magic provide the tension to keep the large-holed pony beads in the right shape?

Dulcey, who could have done this with ONE post....

Yes, the pony bead version is a bit floppy (I should probably have used the thicker Stretch Magic) but the beads are nicely held together by the elastic.

This is the size 15 version, on an adaptation of a 'sea urchin' cuff pattern by Stephanie Burnham

and this is a not-terribly-good pic of the pony bead starfish - just to prove that it worked!

(sorry for the delay in replying)

I love the contrasting colors on the little guy for the center and tip - good idea!  Gives it some depth.  The pony bead one is a riot, I like it a lot, thanks for posting it.

Lynn, that bracelet is 'gorgeous'! I love the colors and the way you made the 'sea theme'!

The 'Starfish' are adorable! I missed that in the magazine, duh!
