    Re: What do yours say?

I think that there are some cultures that have different views of relationships. Those views or beliefs help to define the relationships but that every culture has examples of every kind of family ties ( loose, tight, etc ).

For me, I just got tired of being one of the dysfunctional grandchildren ( we were the ones not doing drugs and getting arrested, stealing from our parents and other family, etc ). That was not a standard I wanted to meet. ( No offense to those who did or do part take in those activities - their are just not my thing - I don't even drink ).

I hope that my son ( 17 yrs old ) realizes how great the relationship that he has with my parents are. My hubby has adopted my parents as his due to issues with his parents. I know that my son enjoys joking around with my parents etc. My son has a dry sense of humor and speaks very little and very softly. He is one of those that you really have to pay attention to what he is saying when he says it, but if you do it is usually hysterically funny. For example, we put 2 extra cell phones on our phone plan for my parents. My dad was asking my son to help him store in numbers etc. Jokingly he asked my son to help him store in his ( my dad's ) girlfriend's number so that my mom would not find it. ( There is no girlfriend and never has been in 45 years of marriage ). My son's response to my dad was that he would store it is as his doctor. He did it very dead pan serious. My dad laughed hysterically and tells everyone.

That is just one example of their relationship. I hope that it continues that way when my son goes to college 500 miles away next year!

    Good Luck and Thanks!

You know the saying When you quit trying that is when it happens!

I can't tell you how many couple I know that tried and tried. Some for 5+ years. When they finally decided to quit trying or to adopt, they would get pregnant.

I know one couple that could not got pregnant, finally after 8 years they decided to adopt. Went through the process and got approved. While waiting to actually get a child, she got pregnant. They continued with the adoption and had the baby so they had 2 little ones that were like 6 months apart in age. WOW!!!

    Best of Luck with it!

It definitely happens when you least expect it.  When we were really "trying" it seemed like nothing worked, but when we finally quit worrying about it, I finally got pregnant.  Strange how that works.  That said, practice makes perfect, right?Wink  If you're not pregnant yet, you must need more practice!

    Re: What do yours say?

i'm 27, engaged, and hopefully we could get married next summer. would really break my heart if we still couldn't get official but oh well, we'll deal with it.

both of my grandpas were great. sadly they both have passed away several years ago.. i loved them both. both were nice in their own way =) makes me miss them when reading about grandpas and talking about them :'( both were kind people and they died in peace, no suffering at all.. :)

when me and fiance get married we'll have our names and the date inscribed inside our rings (actually we've bought the rings, no inscription yet tho). my parents' wedding rings are yellow 22 K gold bands, both still have the names inside it and i could still read them clearly. my mom wears it everyday and my dad's can't fit on his finger anymore XD (he gained like 30 pounds or so since he got married to my mom and my mom can't even cook XD he was average built)

about babies, i believe everyone has different fate. my parents got pregnant just as soon after they got married, while my mom's little sister had to wait for 4 years before she could get pregnant. my mom's cousin didn't get pregnant at all eventho they tried. they didn't adopt any kids tho.

as for me, i'd like to wait at least for 2 years after marriage before getting pregnant as i would need to adjust at a completely new culture and environment :)
